Sento got a reaction from sixfour in Any premium for silver maples in original sealed RCM plastic?
I bought these random-year (2004) 1 oz silver maple leafs and to my surprise they came vacuum-sealed in original Royal Canadian Mint plastic.
Do you think they're worth more in the plastic, or am I safe to take them out? It's cool to have them totally untouched like this, but the plastic is difficult to fold and it's going to be a pain to store.
My guess is that if I sold to other silver stackers they'd think it's neat and pay a little bit extra, but if I go to sell to a LCS I'm not going to get any kind of premium.
The rest of my stack is circulated coins and generic rounds with minor scratches and dents. So if there isn't any significant premium for keeping them BU, I'd probably rather take them out and handle them, and just toss them in a generic round tubes with everything else and not worry about it.
I see individual sealed coins going for a dollar or two above what a regular 2022 silver maple would on eBay. But I wonder if having a full sleeve of all 10 is any more rare or valuable.
