The real reason Bullion Dealers WON'T ship their Silver & Gold....

I was wondering about this. The Royal Mail site mentions not taking signatures but doesn't explicitly say insurance isn't  applied (unless I missed it). If this is the case then there's no difference currently between normal first class and SD practically then?

I’ve discussed this at length with RM and have been assured from their call centre and over the counter that SD insurance is still valid. They will not guarantee the 9am/1pm delivery window and so the ‘insurance’ you used to get with this, where they refunded your fee if it was late, is no longer valid. However the items being shipped by SD are still fully insured. That’s what your paying extra for, the insurance.

That makes sense as they're still charging the full whack for SD, and it's reassuring to hear that from RM. More reason to trade on the forum though I guess for that added reassurance of a good chance of trading with decent honest folk.

I think if the likes of Chards, Bairds and Royal Mint are Shipping without issue, albeit the first 2 with delays, I’m not sure why some of the others aren’t exploring options and solving problems.
