Probably one of the reasons that Gillicks are so popular now is that a lot of people are of an age where they can afford a birth year sovereign, when these 50 and 60 somethings were born its most likely that their parents could not afford it at the time, if they were even aware of them.

I would guess that the 70’s sovereigns will be the next generation to be sought after as those born in that decade will be more able to afford them.

My parents definitely couldn't afford a sovereign in those days. Although they worked super hard to provide for us. As most parents do of course. 

I can afford a birth year now so have one for me and different years for Mrs DaveP. They are in my tiny gold stack being left to kids in my demise. 

Wonder how much they will be worth when that happens. The world is too volatile to predict. I follow the appropriate thread on that subject
