Gold Sovereigns for sale

Recommended Posts

Hi @GoldPurse best place to list is in the UK ungraded sales section (assuming you’re based in the UK). Can either list there as a straight up sale at a fixed price or choose the auction drop-down and set out your terms accordingly. Would suggest a starting price, fixed end time (auctions longer than 24-72 hours tend to lose people’s interest in my opinion), set increments to bid at (eg, whole pounds etc), detail whether postage is included or on top, pictures and honest details of course. You’ll open yourself up to a greater number of buyers with smaller value lots and can either list them as individual auctions or maybe a few on the same post. Might I also suggest that as you’re without any trading feedback, you’re open to being paid upon receipt of goods (eg, send coins to winner and get paid upon receipt) provided winner has ‘x’ amount of feedback themselves. Good luck 👍🏼

I wouldn't list an auction for all of them, will severely limit your potential buyers

As you a new member I would suggest maybe you make a couple of sales and accept cash on delivery from established members to build your reputation as very few will pay in advance for anyone without feedback

Hi everyone,

I have 16 full sovereigns I want to put to auction.

Please let me know if interested and also the best way to go a bout the sale.

It depends on what year, rarity etc.

If any are significantly rare you should consider carefully where to list them.  NOT EBAY!

TSF is a very good place to list most Sovs as a starting point!

Not my circus, not my monkeys

@GoldPurse you would be better to sell them individually on the forum. If someone wants to buy numerous coins, they can.

Good luck with however you decide to sell them and a very wise move not to sell on eBay. Sadly there are far too many charlatan’s on there for my liking.

Hi guys,

going to list the coins soon, can you advise on the preferred means of delivery usually when sending gold coins on here?

Need to be Royal Mail Special Delivery mate, only thing that covers bullion

I'm in a similar position to goldpurse. How do you tend to package them, is there a 'best practice' to protect them in the post?

I put my coins in a flip, I then use bubble wrap and a jiffy padded envelope but anything that protects the coin will suffice,

There are the bubble wrap packets I use - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/264207767995?var=563767790122
These are the envelopes I use - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B009NTHYTE?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
I also use larger jiffys and mailbags occasionally, these are the mailbags - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/203487504667

None of it expensive but I sell quite a lot on this and other platforms so worth it for me.  I have received coins wrapped in kitchen role, tissue paper - even had one sellotaped to a piece of cardboard (avoid the last you wont get good feedback :)).  Really anything that protects the coin(s) will work.  I also suggest sending the buyer a picture of the item and the addressed envelope, tracking and the proof of postage once sent.

Thanks, all sounds like great advice!
