Definitely, I noticed a lot of older half sovereigns seem more worn than their larger counterparts. I guess because at half the value, more people would be using them/having access to them, so they may be circulating and passing more hands than normal sovereigns. And that put me off halves generally. But there are some real belters in there

impaired - fingerprint/handling marks, no damage to the coin.

Could be choosing specific dates for a collection or might just think they look the nicest (eg less wear or more detail)

Yep, this basically. Looked like better detail/less wear on the coins. Could be the pics/lighting etc but looked in great condition to my untrained eye. @TonyTay welcome aboard, you’ll have plenty of fun around here. Decent bunch of folk 👍🏼
