I got the same email, but I'm confused here, didn't we get this coin in the past months!

So are we getting a new design on Monday?

That's a very good point, I'm as confused as you, I guess if no information arrives over the weekend we'll have wait for Monday morning to reveal the answer

The dealers have had this coin for months now. I got mine on 11/12/22.

Yes same for me, I've had mine for months as well, the email from the royal mint has completely thrown me, I just assumed it was a different coin

could it be the new issue in the king arthur series, Merlin?

It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop.

Yes I was thinking much the same, the email specifically mentioned Arthur but as we already have an Arthur available I suspect you can't be far wrong and Merlin will magically appear instead instead of Arthur! I hope at least something turns up on Monday morning! if it is Merlin I look forward to seeing the design as I like this series and hope they make a good job of it

Hi guys,

From my understanding this is going to be a Proof coin. Classic Royal Mint - it'll be a very different release schedule to the bullion coins. Not my favourite design either so a bit surprising they want to do a Proof coin of it.

It will be interesting to see if this switched to the Charles III obverse though, given the original was Elizabeth II.

Disclosure - I work in the precious metals industry, however this is my personal account and all opinions are my own.

Proof Myths & Legends coins have just gone live. So far I can see Royal Mint - https://www.royalmint.com/myths-and-legends/commemorative/king-arthur/

And BullionByPost also have some of them it looks like - https://www.bullionbypost.co.uk/search/?q=proof+arthur

The design actually looks a little nicer in Proof form, and it has switched to Charles III which is quite unique.

Yes that takes care of the confusion caused by the emails, your info was spot on, they do look a little better in gold proof don't they, sadly not for me at the moment, best wishes to you

They need to focus on getting decent bullion out, not being lazy and wasting time trying to sell overpriced proofs which aren't even a different design.

I doubt anyone wants this proof.

I would eat up many more bullion designs at these prices, but the mint takes months to bring anything out.
