Hello from another Londoner

Recommended Posts

Hi all! New to silver and collecting PMs in general. To be honest I actually became interested in silver by looking at pictures on a watch forum (another expensive hobby!) - one member's collection had a small silver bar nestled up between 2 watches and it got me thinking. Fast forward a few weeks and I've just picked up my first 1oz coin and it's all in from here!

It's early days so I don't know if I'd call myself a stacker or a collector yet. I know that gold gives a far better value to size ratio and so part of me thinks that, should I become a stacker more than a collector, Britannias or sovereigns is maybe a better way to go. That being said I do like the idea of owning a kilo of silver, so maybe I'll collect my first 33 coins and then see how I feel after that!

why stop at 33.... 330 sounds so much better...

It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop.

32.151 troy oz in a kilo..so we will call it 32 for simplicity

32 x by an average of £26 per coin = £832 + only you will know how many sets of postage?

Whereas 1 x 1kg bar at say £735 current average = approx £22.90 per oz plus one set of post.

Just an example of why it's important to work out why your doing this.

Welcome aboard

I like to buy the pre-dip dip

This ^^

Technically, alcohol is a solution..

'It [socialism] poses a growing threat, however unintentional, to the freedom of this country, for there is no freedom where the State totally controls the economy. Personal freedom and economic freedom are indivisible. You can’t have one without the other. You can’t lose one without losing the other.'

"There is no such thing as public money, there is only taxpayers' money"

Let not England forget her precedence of teaching nations how to live.

Yep makes a lot of sense! I guess it'll come down to whether I like the feeling of buying coins or if the novelty wears off and I decide that larger chunks are the way to go :)

Thanks for the welcome one and all!
