Newbie here, what are some of the best sites to buy from in Europe currentily?

I have zero silver and was going to buy some silver coins soon, what ones would you guys recommend?

personally i would,nt bother buying from europe as you will still incur 20% vat and also delivery charges/card charges/handling charges.

you would be better off buying on the forum 👍

The UK left the EU on 31 January 2020. The transition period that was in place – during which nothing changed – ended on 31 December 2020.  The rules governing the new relationship between the EU and UK took effect on 1 January 2021.

The OP is in Europe though I believe, country set as Ireland so EU.

Would be VAT if buying from UK and importing into EU europe. So better to buy within EU.

Yes, that is correct, as is the fact that the UK is still in Europe, unless there has been some major undetected tectonic activity.

Your answer applies to the relationship between the UK and EU, not the UK and Europe.

I had not noticed the OP's stated country, but...

If bought from a UK dealer, it would be zero-rated on export to the EU, but subject to EU VAT on import, so there should be little or no difference to the VAT paid.

The shipping cost should theoretically be less if bought from Ireland, but I am not aware of any competitively priced dealers in Ireland.

You might check out https://celticgold.eu/ an online dealer based in Germany that delivers internationally.

Silver-to-go.com seems to be no more, but they are the same company as https://www.coininvest.com/en/ another good online dealer based in Germany.

You can also have a look at https://www.gold.de which is a German comparison site (in German language only, and compares German dealers, some of which might sell only domestically and locally).

You seem to have missed the white line between the "Republic of Ireland", and "Northern Ireland" on the (old) map.

But in any case, the UK is not "joined to" Europe, it is part of it.

You might want to look at a couple of larger maps, one a geographic one, and the other a political one. Both will or should show you the truth.

On the very same map one can see that the same is true of Ireland, yet it is part of the EU. Same for Malta. Yet, Switzerland is right in the middle of Europe, yet is not in the EU.

When Do You Have to Pay Import Duty on Orders From the UK to Ireland?

There is No Duty on Orders under €150

Firstly – the good news is that you can avoid import duty on any packages coming to Ireland from the UK that are valued at under €150.
Note -the €150 limit is per package/order , NOT per item. It does not include any UK VAT charged.

If you plan on ordering 2 or more items with a combined value of more than €150 , you will avoid any worries about import duty by ordering them separately.

Calculation of Import Duty on Orders over €150

  • When an order from the UK has a value of more than €150 – then customs duty might apply, depending on the items.
  • If the product’s country of origin is the UK – then there will be NO customs/import duty.
  • The rate of import duty will vary according to the category of product.
  • Many products have a zero rate of duty. (See below for examples)
  • Some products , such as trainers made in China, for example, will have a rate of duty as high as 16.9% . See some more examples below.

So if i am reading this correctly, Irish people can buy Silver Britannia Bars and Coins without paying Import Tax/Customs because Britannia's are made in U.K.

the tax if your referring to the vat would have already  been paid in the uk if you were buying from a dealer.

also hmrc in the uk dont even understand the protocol themselves as i ounce had the pleasure of explaining to them in court 😃
