Best coins for playing with?

After recently breaking several coin capsules due to playing with and dropping capsuled coins I am thinking I should get a coin specifically for playing with that I won't put in a capsule and won't care about any wear, tear, dings etc. on.

Modern UK circulating coins are all far too small for this purpose.

What recommendations do you have for the most satisfying coins to play with?  I'm not looking to spend alot because that would be against the aim of not caring about the wear and tear.

I enjoy the old British silver. A couple of half crowns should do the trick. Circulated coins, no danger of damage. Won’t break the bank even if you loose them. Saying that, I have carried a silver Britannia with me since 2015 in a leather pouch. I’ve dropped it on the hard floor a number of times, so it has a number of dinks in it. It was the first Britannia I removed from the first tube I bought from the Royal Mint; so has that sentimental value to it.

My pocket piece is a double florin the first attempt at a 20p.

@StackemHighI like the sound old circulated silver makes. So more recently my pocket coin has changed to pocket coins, 3 half crown and 4 florins. I play with them when I have nothing better to do, lol. Very satisfying. No fear of damaging them, so no hesitation in messing about with them either. Have fun.

For big hands, a 20 Balboas (1972-1976) is perfect. Sterling silver, heavy and a great feeling in hand.

With a diameter of 61mm, a weight of 129.59g and a thickness of 4.7mm, it is perfect for playing. Can be bought easily from forum or Ebay, not a huge premium.

Get yourself a Peace Dollar. Decent in size and weight. That is the coin I keep in my pocket and if I was to lose it, not losing a big amount of value.

I have in the past carried around at different times:

Charles II half guinea (almost blank)

William III halfcrown (worn with a punch mark)

1964 half dollar

1945 florin

However, if you want a conversation starter and something very tactile, I think you should look into a beaten up 1797 Cartwheel twopence - they don't cost the earth (about £10-£20) for a battered one, but they are really cool. Just don't drop it on your foot.

Failing that a Catherine II of Russia copper 5 kopeck - pretty cheap, very big lump of copper.

I should state that I'm not even a copper coin fan.
