After recently breaking several coin capsules due to playing with and dropping capsuled coins I am thinking I should get a coin specifically for playing with that I won't put in a capsule and won't care about any wear, tear, dings etc. on.

Modern UK circulating coins are all far too small for this purpose.

What recommendations do you have for the most satisfying coins to play with?  I'm not looking to spend alot because that would be against the aim of not caring about the wear and tear.

What your looking for is deemed a "pocket piece"

My choice would be an eagle or libertad ( not because I deem them coins to be abused) but I believe they are the nicest looking /textured coins for such a thing.

Or if wanting cheaper, go for a 1935 rocking horse crown

Here's a thread @Mothballjim started ages ago on the subject.

Thanks, reading the old thread 🙂

I didn't know this was "a thing".  Nice to know I am not weird lol.

It's a very popular thing. Some even drill a hole in a 1oz bar and hang on car keys

Mine was a silver maple but I’ve recently switched to an ASE, I think it’s nice to have some silver on you at all times for 3 reasons.

1.  in case of an emergency!

2. to show to people to get them interested & curious about silver.

3. to play around with.

Be interested to see what you decided to go with! Be sure to take a before photo and another after a year of it knocking around in your pocket!

4. In case you encounter a werewolf

5. In case any medicinal properties transfer through touch

Tube of sovs

I wouldn't want to play with those though as I wouldn't want to damage them 😉 Maybe if I was a bit richer and didn't care 😂

I have a 2019 American eagle that I use feels really nice in the hand for some reason. Can't explain it!

Yeah it's the slightly domed shape, that would be my first choice too.

Then libertad

Then a gold buffalo ( that wouldn't end well)

The if I had @modofantasma's money, a pocket full of sovereigns.

Somebody else's!

Technically, alcohol is a solution..

'It [socialism] poses a growing threat, however unintentional, to the freedom of this country, for there is no freedom where the State totally controls the economy. Personal freedom and economic freedom are indivisible. You can’t have one without the other. You can’t lose one without losing the other.'

"There is no such thing as public money, there is only taxpayers' money"

Let not England forget her precedence of teaching nations how to live, and It's  Britannia, with one t and two n's.

I would suggest a restrike 1780 Maria Theresa Thaler.

They are 83.3% silver, 28grams, 41mm in diameter and inexpensive which makes it a nice pocket piece.

Best of all, you can be fondling the woman all day and it wouldn't be illegal.

😎

At first glance I thought she was a man!  Anyhow, she's not very attractive 😕

I just got some Thaler from TSF, they are beautiful coins and are a nice size and weight, but I found the lettering on the edges are too sharp and hurts my hands.  so, I have gone back to a stack of 7 worn Morgan dollars on my desk as my Goto fidget pieces. ;)

Yes, I have an older Britannia silver one I'm thinking perhaps might fit the bill and wear better than 999 one.

I did use to carry around an 1847 USA Large Cent, with altered lettering, forming an anagram of CENT.

I usually kept it in a resealable plastic packet, but later used a capsule.

I had been given it by a customer, way back in the 1960's.

It was a great conversation piece.

You may still find photos and a description of it online if you look.
