Glad you had a good experience, they sent me out an awful coin once, but replaced it, didn't reimburse me for postage though.

The other bullion dealer that sent me the drilled and acid tested buffalo refunded me ,could not replace it and I have not bought a buffalo since.

I paid £1000 for that acid tested and drilled buffalo and this Thursday I paid £1600 for this beauty.

Transitory inflation they say...

Can't believe they'd send that out. I imagine you never shopped with them again!

I didn't like it at first, but it grew on me. İt looks how I imagine gold rush coins would look, if they had the technology of today

Yeah once In hand you will understand it, layered/high relief and incuse lettering.

I like to buy the pre-dip dip

Sorry to ask but what exactly does drilled mean?

Some coins can be heavily plated, so would fail an acid test. So sometimes a moron drills into the coin (usually on thicker bars) then acid tests the filings.

lol, I did wonder if it was a literal translation... what an odd thing to do to a coin, surely if you're going to be buying enough to be bothered with acid testing you'd cough up for some tech to help the testing process.

In fairness I doubt it was the bullion dealer who did it, probably a pawn shop or suchlike. Then they sold it as gold weight to the dealer.

Dealer is still a plonker for trying to pass it on to a customer though.

Aye, understand.  Have to say though, even if you're not going balls deep into metals as a career picking up a sigma seems like a pretty reasonable investment, when you start to consider the fees and overheads if you're buying and selling funds over your life time its not so bad.

The Buffalo is far and away my favourite non-UK 1oz gold bullion coin.

Well done OP, I'm really pleased you're happy!

As for BBP, I have received excellent coins from them (with one exception about seven years ago) and their delivery service has been exemplary.  I'm very happy with their service but I don't often use them because their prices are often a bit higher than other reputable dealers.  I will definitely continue to use them, selectively.
