Questions about NGC on site grading

Recommended Posts

Right so while I’m sat here filling out ngc forms to submit a few coins I’ve been saving up for grading I’ve had a few questions jump out at me so I thought I would put them to the knowledge of you guys to see if you can help a brother out 🤔

1. London on site grading - is this at the coin fair which is hosted 4 times a year at the holiday inn? Or at London NGC?

2.If it is at the coin fair at the NGC booth and do they grade and incapsulate onsite or do they send off from there?

3. If they don’t grade on-site can you arrange to pick up your slabbed coins at the next coin fair for example?

4. Should I just not bother grading and save myself the headache and anxiety waiting for months to see if I’ve been screwed again?

Many thanks ☺️

🫢 you’ll never get to touch them ever again!🤔😁 if you are going to sell them on, is the extra money involved worth it, especially if you don’t get the grades you expect/hope for?🤔

🤣 I’ve done it before and the answer is no it isn’t really worth it only on the odd occasion it is, but these are going to be all for me 😏🤤

1 they collect at the London coin fair but to my knowledge they do all the grading in the the US.

2 if only it was that simple, no see 1

3, if you have the ultimate membership you can arrange a collection from their London office, however they close or don’t have appointments on coin fair/event days. I doubt they would arrange a drop off but it’s worth asking.

4, that one is up to you, it’s great when you get the results you want not so good if you don’t.

they don’t tend to grade well with large scratches, just had a quick look at your photo and there looks to be a scratch across the face on the obverse. Not wanting to bash another man’s coin but to me this looks a good candidate for the dreaded AU details.

Good luck  let me know how you get on.  It's all wildly subjective.

With reference to Q4.My most recent submission arrived back at the London office in a month.NGC has stated their aim to speed up grading times. Here's hoping this will continue as grading lead times are a frustration to us all I,m sure.

Mate don't get me going, 5 of the last 6 trains have been cancelled......the last train I got on to got to London never left the station they point blank cancelled the service which left me no other option but to go home it was too late to arrange anything else..........And it still cost me £12 to get the car back out of the carpark.

And booking first-class makes no difference the trip before was first-class return and it was mobbed as they had cancelled the train before and the declassified the service what a F ing joke that was.

It is a disgrace anyone from another country where the train actually run on time would be amazed how bad our transport system is
