Acceptable condition Britannias ?

I don't normally buy 1oz Britannias but decided to get a couple as examples of the last of the queen Elizabeth portrait. I was a tad disappointed with what i received though.  I know this topic has been done to death in the past but i genuinely would appreciate any opinions on whether these would be considered value for money at nearly double spot (inc postage)....

At what has seemingly become the accepted £ value of bullion Britannias (~£23 or thereabouts at current spot) I wouldn't bat an eyelid because of the way bullion coins are handled in the chain of custody. At double spot I'd be miffed as really you should have "Brilliant Uncirculated" for that price, i.e. a strike that is clearer than bullion, less than proof but handled as if a proof coin.

Were they 2022 or 2023.

I assume the latter because you said "examples of the last of the queen Elizabeth portrait"

Who from? Not @ChardsCoinandBullionDealer I hope!

Value for money? Absolutelyfekinnot!

Even if they we're flawless the Value isn't there. I assume you have a reason for not buying from the forum?

Better value than here:

£8240 / 250 = £32.96 each

It would help if some of you whales on here broke some of the tubes of coins up into smaller parcels… maybe two or three coins in a lot?  Not all of us can afford a full tube of silver coins. For that money I would be buying gold. 🤔😁

Pretty sure @arphethean and @theman73 does that regularly?

I like to buy the pre-dip dip

Hm, yes but

The problem here is there are to many spot price buyers.

They don't buy silver, they (think they) buy a deal, they calculate the difference not the weight.

Everywhere else people buy silver at whatever price it is. They want that silver and they buy it.

Somehow I can sell Krugs with £26 on other websites but here they won't sell at £24

Who is right?

I don't mind who as long as they buy my coins.

Constantin

I love your prices, there are a few coins I want, but they'll be like £31-£32 on the bullion dealers, when you drop a £24 Krug there's no way I pass that up, I don't look at spot, just the price compared to where else I can buy it.

Hoping you'll get some philharmonics in at some point, I want one of those 😎

By far the vast majority of the cheapest are tubes. People on here obviously taking your opinions of silver far too seriously and ditching it!🤔😁😁

Of course the cheapest are tubes, the more you buy of anything, the cheaper it gets. Simple economics?

I was simply pointing out single coins are readily available and very often.

As for my opinions on silver and people ditching it? Do you actually know me or just like making empty assumptions? Point me in the direction of any comments "I made" against silver and I will list my rather modest 967 ounces tonight in a flash sale 👍

That's exactly the right attitude and will keep you well in the long term.

There was somebody flogging Philharmonics on the UK Ungraded board not so long ago.

Here it is -

The Sovereign is the quintessentially British coin.  It has a German queen on the front, an Italian waiter on the back, and half of them were made in Australia.

Was that each, or for the lot?

It might seem obvious, but the obvious is not always the correct answer!

I've got some 2022 Phillies and might not be far from you, either - in the High Weald.  According to my spreadsheet they cost me about £28.25 each, so you're welcome to have one for that + postage.

Unfortunately they get away with it because you have bought ‘bullion’ coins. It’s all about the silver content 🤔

Nonsense.

You can't sell a 1oz silver coin for 30 quid with a photo of an undamaged coin and expect to get away with sending an ounce of silver shot instead, claiming it's still an ounce of silver.

Likewise, you should not expect to get away with selling coins as badly damaged as the ones pictured. There is an obvious premium involved here, and taking that into account, the coins pictured do not meet an acceptable level of quality in my opinion - and more importantly, also in the option of the mint when I sent them photos of a coin in a similar state.

I think TeaTime would have no problem getting the coins replaced if they were bought directly from the mint. If they came from a dealer, I think it could be harder because the nonsense "but it's only bullion" excuse seems more rampant with certain ones.
