2022 Double sovereigns - now unobtainable??

Really as per the title. They don't seem to be in stock anywhere, though I have not looked at every possible source, just a good many. Is the Mint now concentrating on 2023 issues? I see that the 2022 one ounce gold britannia is also not in stock anywhere that I have looked.

We did our best at @ChardsCoinandBullionDealer, offering them at a special price, even doing "free postage" for TSF members.

I did advise that people should get them while the going was good, and while there was a chance to win a 2022 sovereign.

Did you listen? 😎

As others have noted, there are still a few around, but I am sure they will be more expensive.

For about a month, we have also been advising people wanting to buy 2022 gold Britannias, that they may receive 2023 dated coins instead.

For the past month, we have not been able to buy as many gold or silver bullion Britannias as we wanted, and since 8th September, it has been difficult to get information updates from the RM.

As you will probably be aware, some information we receive is subject to embargo, so sometimes even if we know, we are not allowed to tell.

Thank you, Lawrence for a very helpful and typically balanced, not to say nuanced response.

Thank you for your helpful reply. Mint prices do seem a bit high, I must say.

Did you notice I tactfully avoided saying rip-off prices elsewhere?

There is a long story about that!

Have to confess that I failed to notice your tactful omission re. rip-off prices. I would love to hear your 'long story', but I doubt if you will be able to tell it to me.  I'm sure you sometimes have to write here under certain constraints, and I am grateful for whatever you can tell us subject to said constraints

There has been a lot of FOMO with respect to 2022 Sovs and Brits from what I can see.

I am not quite sure if they will trade at a premium in the future but I would guess not.

Will I buy Charles 3 coins?  Probably not as I generally prefer females on coins

Not my circus, not my monkeys

The joys of embargos. Cue a waffling story that has beggar all to do with coins. But I'm sat waiting for something, so time to kill...

A long time ago, in a city far far away.. well c. 1990 and Birmingham, but that sounds way duller...

A magazine and it's publishing house was refused access to an unreleased product due to a previous and wholly accurate unfavourable review of another of the manufacturers previous products. All of the rival magazines journo's had been invited to a jolly to get their hands on said product.

A gentleman who shall remain nameless, cough cough, who was invited to said jolly became very absent minded whilst test driving the product. Just left it lying around where a journo from the univited publishing house would find it. As the uninvited journo was not subject to the embargo his comic ran an exclusive a week before the embargo. The product producer was furious. The gentleman who shall remain nameless gratefully accepted the job offer from the uninvited publisher.

Not a coin in sight!

Motoring journalist, by any chance?  1990?  Name and shame the product if you can.

I love cars.  I'm guessing it was a Ford or Vauxhall of some description. Escort Mk V perhaps?

Thank you very much for your diligent research.

No problem :) If you haven´t been able to find anything in the UK yet, hopefully atleast on of the above dealers will sell to UK Customers (given its only gold and not silver etc).

Just putting some feelers out there... I've got one 2022 bullion double in a capsule, would like to know how much you'd be willing to pay? Looking to maybe sell it to fund another purchase but not entirely sure yet. I can see a German website auragentum.de selling it for the equivalent of £846 and was wondering if that's the baseline dealers are charging? Can't seem to find them anywhere now in the UK.

Always shipping with re-used or biodegradable packaging.

They are still available in the UK for around £750 so £720ish for quick sale?
