Just thought of 1937 sovereigns - same year, same reverse, different obverse (Edward VIII and George VI).  But these Edward VIII coins were made before he abdicated (not died) and also they weren't offered for sale to the public/released into general circulation - and as such, are vanishingly rare and excessively expensive.

So these 2023 Britannia coins will be numismatically interesting, no doubt.  My resolve might weaken.

Different times, coins were just circulation coins.

Looks like there are 10oz silver versions of the myths and legends series in the pipeline!

That's a 10oz set I might actually be tempted to buy.  They're a bit indistinct to really make out properly on 1oz coins.

The Sovereign is the quintessentially British coin.  It has a German queen on the front, an Italian waiter on the back, and half of them were made in Australia.

I would get the silver one, but once again my Britannia looks awful, huge mark near the Britannia wording, a mark in the wave pattern, marks in the back.

Why bother paying a premium when they don't care?
