I did something similar on ebay where I did a series of items, one man's junk another man's treasure. I would sell the item for 99p starting bid and the winner would have to message me saying why they wanted it and in my description I mentioned why I was getting rid. This was years ago pre - youtuber boom! It was a good way to get rid of items that someone else saw value in it and it gained a bit of traction as there was a theme for the bidders.
