So, donations flooding in, some of it in cash which means I can pour some bars today!

Here are 3 of probably 5 bars

All sitting around the 9 to 10 oz mark

All the sides have plenty of room for all the marks!

Holy smokes, this has took off. Great job BYB, on the organising and the bars.

I was hoping you'd do 5 ozt bars, so more people could win them.  Did the donations stall at around 50 oz?  But I do have to say they look gorgeous.  No one is surprised about that, no doubt.

The issue is having a big enough piece for everyone to stamp their mark on and look good.

This mould yields a bar that not only looks great but has space. I tried a thinner profile bar that was less weight but they just didn't come out looking right.

The good news is that this has been exceptionally popular that I have no doubt we will do something like this again in the future and have one of the other pourers be the one to make the bars!

Nice idea to maintain a run of them so to speak, with different pourers doing subsequent editions! Could this edition maybe be issue 1(?) and/or mention in some kind of etching that it is to commemorate the Ukraine crisis. Might give the bars a bit more specific meaning going forward??

Apologies if treading on toes or something in pipeline already, just a thought🤷.

Beautiful bars of course!!!

UPDATE 15/3/22

We have now got 47 oz of silver donated.

With the cash transfers of £25/oz I am going to be buying some silver from the secondary market and this will actually yield a little more than 1 oz per £25 so our total is now complete.

A massive thank you to everyone who has donated.

We will now be working on getting the raffle thread opened and look to the next stages of the project.

Thank you so much all!

BYB

Backyard Bullion:  You notice that I did not appear to be concerned about the fact that if more bars were made that it would require extra work to make them. 😀

I think having a Ukrainian etching to denote the purpose of the bar is an excellent idea.

Thank you BYB for organising this.

Those KitKat bars look amazing, and the ripples are beautiful, can't wait to get my hands on them!!

Might have to buy a few tickets Myself, would be a fantastic piece to own.

You are very welcome, thanks for being involved and donating!

I want to enter the raffle myself - but I just know I will bloody win one and that will look bad so I will just donate my entries directly to RedCross and sit it out 🙂

@BackyardBullion - great effort, looking forward to taking part when everything is ready.  Please drop a link in here for everyone if there is a new thread for the actual raffle :)

I hope your raffle raises some mega funds!

I have lots of personal connections in Ukraine and I've been directly helping people (p2p, no charity body involved), including moving people over borders and directing people safe passages from violence, sending money, housing refugees, connecting people to share shelter, food, water and medicine.  Kiev is getting to be under siege so things are getting worse in terms of supplies and movement of people.  But Eastern & Southern cities have it far worse.  Some Russian vehicles have been posing as red cross but I've not confirmed these reports with eyewitnesses... if that's true then it will make the red cross have a harder time to move around safely, plus routes over the borders are coming under attack because they are also supply routes for weapons smuggled among the humanitarian aid, so big thanks to the weapons dealers for putting the aid convoys at risk.

Anyway, I'll be adding some items for auction (with advance permission of the forum) because I have a friend in Ukraine who is working an assembly line to make bullet proof jackets - because there is a huge shortage.  His group need funds for the various materials and resources to produce these and it seems like a noble defensive effort which can save lives.

I was just checking the original details and was about to reply at least 3 weeks... but clearly sooner!
