What do people think of the gold 50p for the platinum jubilee - winner or loser for the future?

Thanks for sharing. These are very nice!

I have ordered the two coin set in silver and gold. I was going to grade these, but think they will do better as raw in their box - especially as both are available as singles already. A real winner for me and I am looking forward to receiving them (still waiting - being told next week at the latest!)

I ordered the quarter ounce gold too. I love the colour of this coin. Just sent it off to NGC for grading

I also bought a platinum proof 50p. Not sure whether I should have though! Perhaps I should’ve just stuck to gold.

Absolutely beautiful coin mucker.... I have the 1oz silver version of these. Already sold them though. You have a platinum 50p..... As in one of the platinum metal version?

I was surprised how quickly the few 50ps we had sold out, in comparison we still have a couple of the £5 crowns left. 50ps have not really been that popular for recent issues so I was expecting it to be the other way around.

Can I ask what price you were selling the sets for? I am going to keep mine as a set and not grade and wondered whether the RRP was a bit high to begin with. Long term investment so not a real issue. Curious!! Thanks!

Is it just my brain acting up tonight or did the mint actually increased the mintage on the 50p 2 gold set?? I rembered that it was 50...Capture.PNG.428deb2eb7583b00af3d6a227ab27031.PNG

I never even saw the 2coin set on release day so I don't know but a mintage of 70 makes sense as a nod to the 70th year of her maj being on the thrown.

The singles are different from those ones in the sets I believe. The set will have the new designs with the normal Queen's portrait on the back. Will see when mine turn up this morning

Possibly.

For instance, I know for sure (as I posted screenshots) that the platinum 50p said it had a limited edition of 70 as soon as it was launched. This then changed to 50 at some point during the morning, but then later went back up to 70.

Yes, this is what I was told. The ‘70’ designed reverse with the Jody Clark fifth portrait and the John Bergdahl commemorative horse back portrait.

The Jody Clark was only in the annual sets (100 mintage) and the Bergdahl was released as a single coin (400 mintage). This increases that mintage and was set out as being 70 from the get go as far as I am aware.

Cheers.
