120 Years of Peter Rabbit coins

I just noticed this https://www.thegazette.co.uk/notice/3945269, which doesn't seem to have been mentioned on here yet.

The proclamation suggests the upcoming releases of:

  • 1oz 999.9 Gold £100 coin with a picture of Peter Rabbit with the words "120 YEARS" and "THE TALE OF PETER RABBIT".
  • 1oz 999 Silver £2 coin with the same.
  • £5 cupro-nickel coin with the same.

There is no mention of the purity being written on the coins, so presumably they will be proofs, although the range of sizes makes me wonder whether there will eventually be bullion releases similar to the Robin Hood series.

So, I actually went forth and ordered the silver proof ( the coloured one inside perspex) 10 mins ago.

From the pictures, it does look good - I was looking to get an older 50p one, but then got this one because it's larger (and arguably more value for money - I'm paying 100 for a 1oz coin, opposed to a 60ish for an 8 gm coin).

Remind me to post some pictures once it arrives! Royal mint says that it's still awaiting stock, so I hope I do get it at some point....

Also, there is no such thing as too much Peter Rabbit stuff :D, I've been collecting Peter Rabbit stuff since I was a kid...

Small update: shipping is delayed for some reason, turns out RM really did not have them in stock - the coin was supposed to reach me last week, but they will start dispatching them this week.

Gotta wait for your Peter Rabbit fix folks!

Also, on an unrelated note - would it be possible to get this coin graded by NGC ( or even worth it)? It would be my first time getting a coin graded, so yeah I am not knowledgeable at all on this subject.

I don't see why not! I've never graded anything myself, but I do have an NGC graded Olympic Games 50p.
