Buying at auction

Being quite new on here I appreciate that this may have been mentioned, but am I the only one who is amazed at what prices ordinary 1 oz silver coins make at auction. People seem happy to pay over £30 for a Britannia.. before auction costs and postage are added. They surely can’t all be collectors!

Yeah it is very difficult to understand the commission is horrendous, most auction houses are charging a minimum of 22.5% & quite a few others 28.5% for buyers, if they do the same to sellers it is insanity to put coins up at these places, both buyer & seller are being robbed.

But I guess how it works is some old boy dies & family haven't a clue & just ship it all down to their local auction house.

The problem with common sense is, its not that common.
