I am interested in using COR auction to buy, just wondering what is the general feeling towards them, are they reliable and good to deal with?

Also I am interested to see they charge 2.5% for Credit card transactions, my understanding was it is now illegal to load extra charges to use CC which do not apply to other forms of payment.

The main reason for this post is I emailed them asking this question but they have failed to respond, this makes me wonder about them!

I wouldn't worry,  think they have been very busy recently with the latest auction and the 2022 proof sovereign issue.

As to the auctions, they often have a lot of unsold items, possibly due to opening bids being too high IMO

I have bought from their auction before it was my first ever auction win. Straightforward, plain and a  smooth transaction.

Can buy with confidence is my opinion having dealt with them once in the past.

I have bought and sold with them on several occasions. They are polite, friendly and perfectly legitimate.

I asked Louise about the credit card charges too, and they believe they are entitled to charge a fee to cover their costs.

Personally, I don’t believe that’s correct but that’s their stance.

@chrisdobb  Hello Chris,

I am sorry but I have never received an email from you that I am aware of. I answer all emails, and also provide a free phone number if anyone has any questions relating to the auction, NGC submissions or collecting in general. With regards to the charge of using Credit card, whilst we advertise this at 2.5% we have only ever charges 1.5% max. We are entitled to charge a fee for using credit card payments as this is to cover the charge from the credit card company. Many auctions apply a charge for this, and given we do not make any money from buyers premiums I don't think it unreasonable to cover the cost of using this facility.  As far as I am aware CC do not accept credit card payments, but correct me if I am wrong.

Always happy to speak to anyone about this or any other queries - 0800 169 1066

Best regards

Louise

Hi Louise

Thanks for your response to my quiery.

My understanding of this is that you are not allowed to charge any surcharge for any other type of payment option which does not apply to all payment options.

This will not be an option for me as I would not now pay by CC but my quiery was purely out of curiosity bearing in mind these regulations which came into force on 13th January 2018.

When I first muted this point I had no knowledge of your company, having researched you I am now quite happy to use other payment methods, but it occured to me this surcharge may be a significant barrier to other people, without this knowledge,  buying from your platform.

I think you may find the "passing on the CC company charges" is old law but it would be a good idea to check that out with your lawyers.  I seem to remember my local auction house bumping up their BP and using the change in the law to justify it.  As I used to pay in cash or by debit card I was less than impressed.
