Anyone else here collecting Royal Mint Proofs or Piedforts?

I don't collect them specifically but I have a silver piedfort 5p,10,20p& £1,

You've a nice collection there though UKSC

The problem with common sense is, its not that common.

Do you buy them from the mint UKSC or do you wait for cheaper on the 2nd market?

Look very nice they do.

Thanks Db. 2nd market. Would only purchase the Proof Lunar Series from the mint. It's the only siver available now that is worth the premium in my opinion.

I dont have any piedforts but i do have 89,90,91 silver proof pound coins and the double two pound coin bill of rights silver proof set. they were an impulse buy but very nice.

I believe the £1 Proofs and Piedforts will gain appreciation when the new ISIS 12-sided bi-metallic £1 gets introduced into circulation in 2017. That Piedfort/Proof would be quite a significant piece in years to come too.

Out of interest, have any Royal Mint products ever made considerable gains since release?

PM price appreciation aside.

Kew gardens 50p's did well in February.:)

How about 2014 mule Lunar Horse & Britannia?

Not sure what the original price of the 1983 £1 was through RM. Goes for £100ish today.

Maybe not much from their bullion collection though rarer decimal coins seem to do well today

Sorry UKSC, I wasn't including mules in my question.

I guess there will be a couple to name, but generally RM stuff won't do a huge amount price wise.

They do look very nice though, which is why I'm surprised.

I wonder about the RM Brits since the bullion Brits will be sticking with the same design each year.

I have the first one but whether I'll continue the series I am unsure.
