I read this differently.
If you have spare cash you ain't going to be able to buy diddly squat !!
These people are buying ( not selling ) your unwanted gold and it would be interesting to see what they would offer for a sovereign or a 1 ounce gold Britannia then compare on-line, on the day, with the likes of HGM

You mean poach their custom with higher offers? Maybe put your own sign next to theirs with a diversion arrow "WE BEAT ANY OFFER FROM THESE GUYS", or perhaps simply "WE PAY SPOT" 😂😂

Exactly... dog eat dog kinda world at the moment!!

It's probably do-able in the short term, until the inevitable confrontation ensues. These kind of traders rarely, if ever, offer "THE BEST RATES GUARANTEED"..

I suppose if they say they offer the best rates guaranteed it could be.... The best rates guaranteed( that they can offer whilst maintaining healthy margins to run and grow a business.) 🤔

Don't all the gold buying shops say best prices paid if you go into a typical town? I suppose it's like good companies twisting the labelling rules

I'd take the best rates guaranteed as a price match, which I doubt they would do but then I am being a bit presumptuous.

Agreed, with their overheads the best price would likely mean their best price, but I wonder how many of these traders will be hoping for customers that don't really know what their old/broken/unwanted jewellery is really worth.

I wonder if they pay cash?  That would appeal to a certain type of person.

Best

Aside from those that need cash fast, it could also attract stolen goods if the sellers details aren't recorded?
