Auction you're spare on here starting at rrp 😁 think of it as a psychological experiment 🤔

Better still be a philanthropist and run a draw at RRP 😛

Totally agree with this - but did you not say last week that you had bought privately with no guarantee?

I hope you manage to get the second issue as I agree with most on here that the Quartered Arms on it's own is a bit of a wash out. You need the portrait too. I look at the Alderney set that I have and think that they just don't work on their own. They need to be in a set.

Good luck to all waiting for emails or calls!

depends if you trust the seller or not - I did trust the sellers and talked at length (met both personally) - So I'm talking generally buyers/sellers

I had already got what I wanted a definite, from a dealer Quartered arms and option for Portrait plain edge

so picking up a 5 oz, and  2oz milled edge was just a bonus, risk of not getting Portrait I felt, small, and I said I was going to try my luck in the RM Mint queue to get a Portrait at RRP - LOL - no chance really.

and in my opinion, people who might have a Portrait, but not the Quartered Arms would be seeking one, even if my deal fell through for any reason, I should be easily to sell any spares I had

So my personal choices, I took a risk with people I both met, talked to in person and felt worthy of trust and took a risk, my point is most people will not take that risk. (especially pay by paypal and put it in the post, and I spent ages on the phone with my bank, who thought it was a fraudulent purchase and blocked it initially - a real hassle)  My Portrait deals would be then inperson and bank transfer (like buying a car privately)

(Chap who sold me my 5 oz, drove down from Wales and hand delivered, neither of the people I bought from were being greedy, looking for 100-200-300-400% profits, so trusted them as long term relationships possible)

Coin 2 - is actually the actual Gothic Crown.. !!

Queen Victoria in Gothic style, wearing a Gothic crown is more desirable, but you would still want the pair as a collector

Coin 2, as an individual coin, may hold a little more value but as you say the pair is what people (future collectors) will want.

My hope is that there will be a number of flippers left holding coin 2, unable to get their price (or unwilling to buy back coin 1 to make a pair).

If it doesn't work out, I will have a lovely collection of first releases (and hold all the power!)

They must have very loyal customers. Saw a Una 2 OZ silver PR70 sold around 30k by them. The 2 OZ silver Henry is sold out at 799£ in their shop. Both at a time you could find, and still find them way cheaper.

I often scream at the screen when viewing ebay lol....Still a big portion of the population doesn't know forums or even dealers with premises exist.

Than what are we waiting for. Looks like a good idea, flipping the newest coins immediately after release for ridicolous prices on thiefbay. But we must hurry before others steal my idea

Just taking a little look at completed 2oz gold coins on feeBay UK

https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=2oz+gold+coin+&_sacat=0&LH_Sold=1&LH_Complete=1&_sop=3

It terms of actual completed/sold/paid for sales (green figures)

The re-sales of the Platinum Jubilee 2oz gold seems to be more popular at present over our beloved Gothic Crown

x9 Platinum Jubilee sales

vs

just x5 Gothic Crowns 2oz golds

The order made on the phone today, has finally appeared in open orders.

There was speculation earlier in the thread whether they would increase the mintage. The 2oz looks like it might be?

The quartered arms was LEP 3750 with maximum coin mintage of 4006

Not sure if it's a mistake or they have added another 250? Or maybe I am reading it wrong and it's exactly the same.

Edit.

The quartered arms in closed orders does also say 3750.

I still haven't received the call 🤷‍♂️ might try myself tomorrow afternoon.

It's probably worth adding the 5oz and 10oz look exactly the same.

Looks likely to me there will be 250 extra 2oz silver portraits.
