Anybody remember that Gordon got the nickname Golden Brown?

Same here, but I dislike the song, which is unusual for me.

There are also numerous YouTube videos featuring Golden Brown to the Stranglers' track, so it is doubly awful.😒

Which is nothing new, the European powers did it throughout the 17-20 centuries. The British had the Opium Wars to give just one example.

It's all about exploitation of people and natural resources. If there's any money to be made, I can assure you someone's thought of it.

Yep, exactly. As an American I've wondered over the years whether the official stories we're told, the American mythology, are true or how true they might be. You know, the stories of George Washington, Paul Revere, etc, etc.

Some of us wonder if there was any actual independence or if it was just another scheme by the royals, and if the DC Capitol is their London 2.0 or whatever, and it's just a new version of the East India Company.

If that made any sense...

The United States revolution was about monetary policy, same applied with the Civil War. The "founders" were part of the "Rights of Englishmen" group which believed in political representation and taxation without representation. The FF didnt want to pay for the Stamp Act (1765) - this was the debt on the Seven Years War. Plus, the payments on the Stamp Act/Taxes were to be paid in GBP (to keep the value). Years later the Patriots took on the British Empire and won, as we all know.

Thing is with the American civil war, the South wanted to use fiat currency, wheres the North wanted to use Gold and Silver. But theres a catch... The Indians/Tribes were subject to genocide as they were on top of massive amounts of Gold and other resources.

The FF borrowed from France and the City of London. George Washington was the largest beneficiary out of them all given the size of wealth he had.

EDIT: Thomas Jefferson was the most intelligent out of them all. He knew how the Bankers operated. The United States today have fallen on deaf ears on Jeffersons vision. Its actual disgusting. The United States will fall, its inevitable and China will replace its Empire status.

It did make sense. This kind of theory was covered in that TV show 'Timeless', which was all about the deep state in the US, starting in the 1770s-80s, with David Rittenhouse being the key villain.

French fries. They are pretty popular over there. We ain't have them, so we don't know how important french fries can be.

But serious, how we get from Afghanistan to the pilgrims here? For me a bulletproof turban for fighterpilots in this context makes more sense. I should develop one. And a stealth one for special opps. Did the US Army giftet also a submarine before they knew, that there is no ocean in Afghanistan? Would be nice to see a buch of Taliban trying to drive it off a mountain.

Thanks.

I can never understand a word @Minimalist says.

My first thoughts were:

Freedom Fighters, but that could also apply to any number of terrorist, anarchist, patriot, revolutionary, etc., groups.

F****** F******

I'm glad I asked the question, because after you answered, I Googled, then looked at Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FF which contained a list of 55, although it failed to include:

Founding Fathers

Ferguson Formula (at least, not directly)

Famous Five

First Fifteen

Fairly Fast

F****** Fast

F****** Foreigners

I did rather like:

255 (hexadecimal: FF16)

A bra size

French Franc

Are there any others missing?

😎

P.S. Founding fathers of the USA - Wouldn't that be FFOTU, FFOTUSA, or FFU?

I missed French Fries off my list, which I was still editing when you posted.

There is a definite connection: They were all problems and events caused be groups of religious nutcases.

No ocean? Whay about the Aral Sea? (Let's discuss Global Warming / Climate Change)

In any case, the Swiss have a navy, and at least one lighthouse. (Don't Google "Swiss Navy")

Submarine? Afghanistan? Mountain? - Perfect application for a stealth submarine, nobody would even suspect it.

Montgolfier, Zeppelin, and Hindenburg missed our badly. They should have invented a lighter-than-air submarine.

😎

I just realised I omitted:

FF(S) - For F***'* Sake.

This only occurred to me , when I said it a minute ago on getting "This page isn’t working If the problem continues, contact the site owner.
HTTP ERROR 400", on the website of a very high tech car company. It wouldn't be too bad if it wan't about the fifth error message from the same site.

Most of them, typically, seem to assume the problem is at my end rather than theirs.

Now it wants me to log in yet again! FFS!

I love how you've included to apostrophe there! Unless of course you just typed out the full word and the website censored it... 😉

Well spotted!

Oh yes, I care about apostrophes, and included it deliberately.

Mind you, now that I have started using mobile phone text messaging, I find I am tempted to get lazy.

I'm much the same, but although I type in full on the phone and try to ignore the words offered to me (if only to retain my spelling competency) my phone likes to change the words and my punctuation as I type, so if I don't spot it on the initial read through, I end up with errors here and there, it really bugs me!

No end of edits on this website...

It always annoys me when American software tries to "correct" my English to the similar sounding language they use over there!

I think their dictionaries are written by some cunt country bumpkin. 😎

Unfortunately, I speak Scottish - the betrayer language na h-Alba (Scotland). Thanks to the scumbag unionist Stewarts who sold the country down the river and outlawed my native tongue (Gaelic) due to marrying the Tudors.

It may be difficult to understand (which is insulting enough) but I make no attempt to entertain or make effort in fully attaining an imperialist Germanic language (well, latin-germanic-french now which is modern English).
