They will probably recycle the designs they had ready for Prince Philip's 100th birthday - at least there will be no justification for a SOTD sovereign!

What a bizarre mistake. It seems they deliberately sent an email with a date and time. Perhaps they decided to quality check the coins and realised they need to re mint or something.

The Royal Mail is issuing four stamps in a miniture sheet tomorrow so maybe there was going to be a numismatic collaboration, which did not work out?

Yes indeed.  I got the two emails as well.  First one announcing that the coin will be released at 9 am followed by the “we made a mistake “ email.  👀

Apparently the launch was not a mistake for some reason it was pulled by the treasury at the last minute?  The plot thickens!

The design is quite alright.  Nothing too spectacular - just a memento-type coin for sure.
