Hi i have a question maybe somebody can help me with ?

Do you think that the Slabbed Sovereigns purchased from Rosland  are worth it , or are they overpriced ??

As I've purchase a couple of items from them, and I'm not convinced, as the price of gold has to rise to at least £2500  oz before i can make a good return on my investment

have i made a good choice?

Mind you, I purchased these a couple of years ago when gold was at £1800 oz  and it's only £1933 ish  and very green in the game

It depends on the Sovereign and whether they are charging the market value or not with it being slabbed... The TCC auction last Sunday has always got slabbed sov's and that's usually a good indication (well one of the methods)of value.... Its a bit like proofs the mint sell proofs way over spot and although the value is linked to Pm pricing its also about intrinsic value as well

So would you pay £930 for a Slabbed Sovereign PR69 limited 499  gold eagle ?

It seems as if I wanted to resell it i would have to take it back to where i purchased it,

maybe i should look in the graded section

I think it would be useful to see some pictures.  Numismatic coins usually have a value greater than the spot price of gold, depending on their condition.

I have never bought anything from Rosland, so I don't know anything about their pricing policy.

I really hate to be the bearer of bad news, but those coins will likely only be worth spot price at best....

There might be some very niche collectors out there that would be willing to pay more for the coins, but I would suspect most if not all dealers would not be willing to pay very much above spot price for these coins.

Agree.... Not something that would drive demand and value....

If this is what you paid for these coins, you are going to have to wait for £4000/oz gold to get your money back

I would personally be getting in contact with Rosland to ask for full refunds as the coins are just not worth that amount. See what they say.

Think I'm going to vomit !!!

We don't mean to make you feel bad and I am very much sorry to bring bad news.

The good thing is that you have asked questions about these coins and you are now in the know.

Take a step back, go for a walk and just try to relax as best you can.

The forum can help too - Rosland gold are even forum members so might be able to help alleviate some of your concerns.

Why would anyone want a bald eagle on a gold sovereign?

This is a good resource to check out hammer prices for various coins. I just filtered by Tristan Da Cunha and you see all the coins go for basically spot price on these.

I think it is worth pointing out that nobody is accusing Rosland gold of any fraud/crimes/scams here.

There is a market for collectable pieces like this that some people are more than happy to pay good money for.

How can £930 for a sovereign be anything but a scam?

You know what?  I've been searching for these coins, and i have not seen them anywhere else but Rosland

They are 'special editions' commissioned by a plethora of gold dealers and issued by various commonwealth countries.
