Fed up with eBay

I've had enough of eBay. Last week i bought a NGC slabbed Sovereign from a seller. They had decent feedback . They listed the coin as dispatched almost immediately. I paid for special delivery , so after two days of no show i messaged the seller for a tracking number . No reply . Two days later i asked again. No reply . So now i'm looking to make a claim and the first opportunity i can put that in is in two weeks time, then another week wait before a refund. Of course it may just turn up in the meantime. I've had a few sales like this in the past and I've had enough. It wasn't like the seller had just a few feedbacks .

It has been said doing that is a very easy way to et a cheap interest free payday loan! I read somewhere about people that do this (idiots!) is strange they have alot of feedback but thats easy to get if buying a lot of stuff.

That was my very thoughts last night.  Almost a months interest free loan . Makes you wonder .

I would have a word with Ebay to check if the seller has received your payment. I know there have been a few problems with the new managed payment system and some sellers are not keen on shipping until they have cleared payment. I may be wrong but i think the seller has to declare the item has been sent to enable the payment process to proceed.

Maybe, but it doesn't explain two ignored messages . Thanks

eBay is an utter cess pool. I recently purchased a couple of items that turned out to be fake. An absolute palava getting my money back. Not using it again for PM related items

Just to say we keep a presence on eBay, we have 100% positive feedback on over 1000 sales. Ebay is fine if you buy from the right people, but if you buy from a dodgy photo, from a low feedback seller, something that looks too cheap, then yes you may well get scammed.

Interesting you say this, I just had a similar experience. The seller marked dispatched instantly. A new seller then listed the same ngc slab a week later. Needless to say I never received anything and for what little it’s worth phoned up eBay to tell them what was going on but they didn’t seem to care much.

Both sellers were not new and had 100+ perfect feedback. It wasn’t the 2005 you bought was it?

It wasn't a 2005 . But interesting. I think most people know trying to sort things out with eBay is a waste of time.  Better to just to make a money back claim.

just noticed his first negative which he keeps private ( bizarre eBay allow that ) so it looks like the coin won't turn up .

Yep same seller 2 accounts, waste of space human being. Open a case at the earliest opportunity.

Will do, eBay's problem , just a waste of my time for me. I've had it happen more often than you would expect for an average buyer.  No more for me apart from a few well known sellers.

Feedback is split into "as seller" and "as buyer" unless they've changed it recently. It's important to check that out before making a purchase.

If it's a credit card attached to your eBay account can you not initiate a charge-back if you've been gyped?

I've had people print out deliverynslip but never send item, it delays a case until after the stated delivery date has gone by for days so can give them my money for weeks to buy what I bought on a deal or as stated get a pay day loan, some people do that with other peoples items they don't own, advertise for more then the person wanted on their page then if some fool falls for it then buy the item and keep the profit.

Not mentioning Ebay + paypal fees are crime.

Not best place to sell anything definitely.

You know it might not be the best place to buy any more either.

I've been buying off eBay for years, but over the last two days I've discovered something I've never experienced before.

Now I'm well aware that the new payments method is well and truly being rolled out. I was messaged a few times by eBay stating if I didn't swap to the new payment method, I wouldn't be able to sell on eBay from 31 May etc. Which is fair as I'm not selling on eBay anymore, no wish to.

However, I've sent a few offers in since 31 May for items I'd like to purchase and something strange has happened.

I put on offer on some run of the mill halfpennies priced at £1.99, I offered £1. So no great value etc. But on my offers page it states I've offered £1.42! Where has this 42p come from? It's not from the postage, I know that. My other offers sent also had weird extra amounts added on. One can only assume these are PayPal/payment fees now passed to the buyer as well as the seller?

I would sell on ebay now, but occasionally you get something you can make something of. Agree though that Ebay have shot their bolt with the latest grab for fees. They make it sound like a benefit, but the reality is that removing Paypal still increases their take by two percent of selling price.

It is likely this will lead to a continual fall off in the use of EBay as it puts an even greater risk on the user having to have a bank account exposed as well.

Having had a quick look on the EBay community forums long standing sellers are mentioning their sales volumes are dropping quickly since the change.
