Alice in Wonderland new release

I’ve just received an email from Royal Mint about a new release.

This looks like it could be interesting.

Yes, they sell you a nice proof sovereign for £630.00 and then give a nice bottle of something to drink. When you wake up you have a quarter sovereign in your hand and you are told everything is normal.

Yeah I'm jumping down that rabbit hole, a great idea with potential for some excellent (trippy) designs. I just hope they can do it justice.

I will go for it anyway as one of my daughters is an Alice and the story is an old school favourite in our family.

I've done my fair share of mushrooms so hopefully mine will get bigger 🍄🍄🍄

This is rather ambiguous, and open to interpretation "so hopefully mine will get bigger". Let us know if it works, but please, no photos!

Today I was planning on dropping bundles of cash in the drain outside my house.

Alas it is raining and the forecast tomorrow is for more rain.

Aha tomorrow the Royal Mint are releasing yet another coin, which I can buy with my cash bundle, from the comfort of my living room, and remain dry, thanks RM.

Luckily each coin is rumoured to be 750 mintage. It’s part of the RM new initiative to step off royalty and go mainstream

The Isle of Man have already issued an Alice in Wonderland set of 50ps.  It will be interesting to see how the RM's designs compare.

Honestly, I’m not particularly impressed. They could have done something quite interesting and played with perspective a bit. Quite generic if you ask me, though they are using the original illustrations.
 

The Alice and Cheshire Cat is 9am today. The other design for Through the Looking-Glass will be released later in the year.

Kind of disappointed in these coins. First time I've preferred a colorized version but still will probably pass.

Yeah, the colourized version isn’t terrible, I really don’t think it translates well to gold though. The eyes on the cat...

It may just be the images though, coins do generally look better in hand.
