Back up and running

Apologies for the down time earlier.

There seemed to be multiple back end issues, which caused some errors on the forum. All of which were not showing error logs, so it was difficult to locate.

The errors included but where not limited to; a backup of the forum upload files which was saved on the same drive had caused that drive to become full and subsequently the forum was inaccessible as it had ran out of space. This is despite the massive storage space that we have. We have now deleted those extra unnecessary files, as we have actual back up files on other hard drives on the sever.

There is currently plenty of space, but we will be upgrading the storage space at some point to prevent any future outage. There may therefore be some downtime sometime in the near future when we upgrade the space on the drives. If you currently use the forum for free, please consider upgrading to Premium Membership as this helps a lot with maintenance costs of the forum. Thank you to those who choose to use TSF as a Premium Member and who help to maintain the forum. 

There is also a caching based issue, which we are working on. So there may be some sporadic downtime later as we are trying to re-enable a different caching method.

Once again, sorry for the downtime earlier and glad that we should now be back up and running as usual

Apologies for the intermittent downtime. This is the caching issue still causing this, and every time it happens we need to reset the server. Previously we were using memcache, however this is no longer supported and the forum seems to be too large to handle the file system caching that we are currently using. We are looking into creating a MySQL database for the catching, or possibly using redis 

I am currently away with limited internet connection but I am going to try to look at this today, and will try to get a new caching method implemented after a local backup of the database. 

If you happen to notice the forum down again it will be the caching issue, if someone is able to email me (in case I do not spot it e.g. if away from the computer) I can get the server restarted ASAP.

Did a lot of work on this yesterday but was just one final stage to do. Have ran into some issues just now trying to do the final stage. Working on it, and should be permanently fixed sometime today hopefully. Sorry with the delay.

The last 500 page was intentional, we were repairing the database. 

As well as the cache, there seems that it could be caching some issue there may possibly be some other sort of issue which may originate from the application that we have that runs the spot price bar. I have written to the developer of that application, to see if he has any idea.

We are also doing some diagnostic tests, which takes 12 hours to run, which will be started later by our computer technician. That may hopefully give some further info.

Thought that we may have fixed this issue yesterday but I hadn't posted an update just in case. Unfortunately it seems like there are still some issues.

I will likely not post and update again until we have an actual confirmed fix in place. Apologies for these issues, it is extremely frustrating and I will try to get it fixed ASAP, currently still trying to work out what is actually causing it. For the moment I have also temporarily disabled the spot price bar as I think that could also be causing some issues with the database.
