Out of interest why is 1962 such a hard to find year?

It's the only Gillick I have (my birth year), but it took a while to find.

No idea, plenty of them, 3,000,000 minted, the 57 over 2million.

Exactly,and yet you rarely see them come up for sale or they have a premium. Chards ask £335 for a VF 1965 and £380 for a VF 1962

We used to keep a "secret stash" of 1957 and 1989 sovereigns, 1962 is the next scarcest of the first portrait sovereigns, with the exception of 1953, and I have only seen 2 of those.

Someone just asked me to grade our stock of better 1899-S Sydney mint sovereigns:

1+6+12=19 makes for a nice symmetrical arrangement.

First thing I did is get my wife, kids and my birth years...... the kids happen to be on years there are only proofs 🙂 ... but both got graded as PF70's with mine and the wife's MS64 (hers is 1965

1860 Shield Sovereigns

I was supposed to be grading these to go on sale, but we photographed them instead.

4 x 5 = 20 It's nice when they fit in a neat grid pattern.

1855 GB QV Sovereign (since no 1955 GB QE2 Sovereign was issued on my birth year). 1868 Philippines Queen Isabel 2 4 Peso gold (handed down from my grandmother to my father and on to me). 999 gold hollow Jin Chan figurine (Feng Shui 3-legged Money Toad)…

An 1871 St George reverse sov with the large BP on the obverse. The date is common, but they're not so easy to find with this variety.

How do people like to store their coins. I tried display boxes but didn't like them. Now i just throw them in a box. I get more pleasure going through them. I forget what i have some times.

They go great in 35mm film tub, you get 8 in with the capsule so great for making nice round weights (in imperial)

You need to talk to @LawrenceChardif you want to fill in the gaps with quality. The 1962 he sold me as VF is coming back from NGC as an MS64.

but here’s my first half sovereign shield back 1869 die 14, received off the forum a couple of months back, 

really want to make a collection of these now I find them so more appealing than the standard sovereign design.

My recently acquired 1931 Perth Mint sovereign.

Coin 8 of the 10 George V small head variety Sovereigns. All minted at branch mints. Now I just have the 1929 and 1931 Melbourne Mint sovereign to go.
