Now here is a rather unusual offering for the forum!...

For sale here is a pair of lovely Project Mercury commemorative gold tokens. These 18K gold commemorative medallions/coins were produced at the Vienna Mint. As this was imported into the UK it had to be hallmarked as imported gold by law. The h letter mark indicates the year which is 1963. Thus, this is imported gold which was hallmarked in London in 1963.

The link above is to a similar medal which was donated to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum by Thomas Becker in 1972.

These are very hard to find and to have two in a lovely case like this is most unusual and appealing. They look great displayed in an obverse/reverse arrangement.

Each of these gold coins has a diameter of 20 mm and consists of 3.5 g of .750 gold. The total fine gold weight here is 5.25 g.
