A question about storage...

I recently purchased some 10 oz. RCM silver bars, which came sealed in individual plastic "flips" (for lack of a better word). Are these safe to leave them in? I have heard plastic/PVC flips can cause tarnishing over time, but these are very neatly stored in their packets, and it protects them from scratches. Does anyone know if this is going to be an issue? Thanks in advance!

I have seen some 80's Engelhard bars in their sealed plastic sheets on sale on the forum and they looked great. I guess it just depends how well they're kept and if the plastic doesn't have any tears or holes in them. With time, a tarnished bar may also look great to some collectors.

In regards to storage, since you're in the USA, I would recommend you hold your metal yourself or do some midnight gardening. Don't leave your metal in anonymous (or any) safe deposit boxes: https://www.zerohedge.com/political/fbi-raids-business-renting-anonymous-safety-deposit-boxes-forces-customers-reveal

Always shipping with re-used or biodegradable packaging.

Looking to sell some items to fund a holiday. I've got some items for sale. PM me or check my profile if interested: Hitler's 3rd Reich 2 Reichsmark Coins, Roman Imperial Denarii and Other silver coins/items.

Yes, the original plastic is very effective. Even a silver bar is not a high premium product, if you want to keep long term in " as new " condition,  don't remove the plastic and put between rows of bars some thin bubble film to avoid scratches. If you have a big quantity of bars, use as well rectangular plastic storage boxes with lid.

Happy stacking!😊

Stefan.
