Thoughts on these Britannia's

Hi Guys,

Recently bought some 2013 Britannia's off ebay and wanted your thoughts. These are the most worn ive ever bought, magnet test and weight seems right.

Just wanted clarification on colour, some bits look green/brown in colour. What other tests are there or do these seem genuine?

I havent got scales that go to .00 only .0 stupidly however getting coin weight at 31.3 grams (same as 2021 britannia i bought from mint)  and coin weight in water at 2.9-3 which is the same as the 2021.

Based on this i think they are genuine but will repeat with more accurate scales.

So getting well within the .999 silver range but need more accurate scales to further gurantee

If in water is showing 3, it's fine. A copper one is around 3.6 in water. So... You are lucky!😊

Yea nowhere near 3.6, did clean these with bicarbonate soda and they cleaned up quite nicely. Pretty confident they genuine as same results as royal mint coin.

Are they scuffed or is it just the reflections/toning? If so I'd say someone had a crack at "antiquing" the coins. Why you wouldn't stop after seeing the results on the first one I don't know...🤣

The rainbow affect, on it's own, is actually quite pleasant if it occurs naturally but you don't often see it on modern .999. The wounding, not so much...

Ah fair enough. "Antiquing" techniques usually involve abrasives is why I asked. One of the lads on here did a bunch of £1 proof coins that turned out very nice, but it's very easy to get wrong. Good for you that you got it sorted out. 👍🏻

I'd buy in that state, I hate paying extra for pretty bullion. Give me dented/scratched/spotted bullion.

I think mints are making bullion look too pretty! Too delicate! A few months ago I bought a damaged scratched 1kg coin, it's one of my favorites because I don't have to worry when playing with it
