Systems like this are plentiful - eg. you'll never see Amazon sell something out of stock - and they hold millions of products. Downside is they do require a degree of investment - possibly more than RM want to spend... This is my day job.

Amazon must have changed then.

It's many years ago now, 2007/8+-, but we were looking for an upgrade card for a telephone system, and it was unavailable on every site except Amazon.

We bought it, and paid. After about a week, we got a message saying it was out of stock, but they were trying to source one for us. It was several months before Amazon told us they could not get one, then refunded us.

I suspect it was their standard Modus Operandi for many years.

It was clearly not a database / system error, but a policy.

As the site operator, when do you allocate a coin to a customer? Presumably when he adds it to basket, but do you then deduct that 1 piece from available stock immediately, when he hits "proceed to payment", or when payment completes?

Yes, when it's added to the basket.  Five failed transactions to pay meant I was early to add to basket but their failure to take payment meant that my payment was late so my order is now cancelled.

It should be 'add to basket' reserves then there is a countdown to complete the order like bullion dealers or concert ticket sales.

"It's run by halfwits."

Are you exaggerating?🙂

Yep,, too much credit.   I should have said no-wits.

Might be a daft question but I'm good at daft questions so here goes. Given the relatively low volume of all the 3G coins, surely RM would have already made the coins and have them ready to sell? So why the 4 week wait for delivery? Do you think it takes 4 weeks to sort out all the ordering problems?

My guess is they have already minted more than enough, but it takes a long time to find enough which are good enough to ship out.🙂

They did change Lawrence - to a dynamic rules based system that adapts according to need.. clever stuff.

Has anyone see the @ChardsCoinandBullionDealer specially commissioned version of the Three Graces? I think they are launching tomorrow morning. Can @LawrenceChard confirm? I understand it is called 'The Two Graces'.

Not true, we're going one better... Four Graces.

Which reminds me, I was watching an old YouTube video of Victor Borge recently, and he said a relative had invented a soft drink which he called 4-Up. when it didn't take off, he re-branded it 5-Up, later 6-Up (which sounds like an anagram of Vimto). When that went flat, he gave up.

And for some reason, that reminds me "What is Snow White's favourite drink"

That looks like a scene from every bar in Blackpool I've been in to.

He gets out a lot then?😉

I must say it's been about 45 years since I had a night out in Blackpool. The pubs all seemed to have snooker tables but the clubs were lively.

I think you've been watching too much B-grade porn😁

The only time I tried to visit a porn site, my computer went down on me.

You do realise we are in danger of getting these "humourous" posts deleted or moved.

It always used to "amuse" me when the sales guy said  "do you want Scuzzy ( SCSI)  drive!? "

At least we’re not talking about bloody cancelled orders. And we are thirty minutes closer to the dispatch notice.....
