Investing in precious stones

Recommended Posts

Hi folks, hope all is well.

Anyone looked at holding some money in precious gemstones such as; ruby's, emeralds, diamonds and the like?

I am aware of the issues surrounding conflict stones, but wondered if anyone else has considered a few gems to add to their stash of treasure?

Hi @Nugget all good thanks. Hope you're well too!

I've got a few brute emeralds, rubies, diamonds and other less/semi-precious stones but they aren't with me unfortunately. Recently moved and couldn't carry any more on me - then all of this health crisis started and I couldn't go back for them! A family member owns a geology and mining company in South America and used to send me some bits and bobs of minerals, gems, etc. for my birthday, never had to pay for them but they definitely got some beautiful colours/hues - little by little my stash grew... not sure of the value though never had them valued/appraised so I haven't got a clue.

I know for a fact they are way harder to liquidate than PM's so if you're thinking of getting them make sure you've got a safe/good position in PMs and cash, they only sell well in good/thriving economies and still then you have to be careful with undervaluation etc. So if you got extra £ around and time then its a good idea to diversify. Still easier to liquidate than paintings/statues lol!

Never thought of having a treasure stash, would definitely look appealing!

Always shipping with re-used or biodegradable packaging.

Looking to sell some items to fund a holiday. I've got some items for sale. PM me or check my profile if interested: Hitler's 3rd Reich 2 Reichsmark Coins, Roman Imperial Denarii and Other silver coins/items.

Sounds great.  Could I become a distant relative 😂 I've had a look online at legit dealers and thought it might be fun to pick up a few things just to throw into the mix.  I'm not talking mega money, but a few grand into a few stones that I can just leave to the kids.

I know naff all about stones / gems.  So would probably just by a few smaller gems from the main 4 (Ruby, Emerald, Sapphire, Diamond).

Hahaha! that cracked me up XD

What website have you looked at for the UK? Do they also buy gemstones or only sell?

Are diamonds (and other gemstones) not that rare, so are priced on what people will pay for them?
The one thing that worries me about assets like this is if for some reason jewellery like that just goes out of fashion.
I guess diamonds are a commodity that gets used up, especially with drilling etc?
With the possible emergence of asteroid mining and lab made jewels that could present problems?

i only really know a little bit about the diamond industry and its price fixing, clever advertising.

I have been looking into crystals and healing stones recently and this seems like a growing sector especially now a lot more people are becoming 'woken'and more conscientious of the world. Holistic therapies are now being taken more seriously.

Elite or noble Shungite might be somehting to look at as it is one of the best repellents of EMF's or 5G. It basically has a special carbon structure. Its also only mined from one place as far as I gather, and has a limited supply, although it wont be used up just kept by hippies. ;) (like Silver in electronics). I have a bit of it on my neck and have tested it with my EMF meter and also when healing & it certainly repels bad energies. The second part is not very credible scientifically, but I know without a shadow of a doubt it is effective ;)

Dont confuse this with normal Shungite or tourmaline, which is still good, I have several lumps on my desk and under my pillow.

Its price is not far off the cheaper end of silver (need to sit down and work it out based on 10 or so listings). Im no expert on this so if anyone has any better knowledge let me know as i would happily buy a KG of this and spread it round my house for a decade & then sell it on for 10 times the money! 😛

0.6kg - £300! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Elite-Noble-Shungite-Raw-Rough-Mineral-Specimen-EMF-Water-Purification-0-6kg/114430343866?hash=item1aa4947aba:g:eUgAAOSwMqtfb51R

If you ever get a chance to visit a town in Arizona called Sedona, the shops are full of health giving crystals offering all sorts of cures and links to extra terrestrial life etc.
Last time I visited, the restaurants throw you out before 9:00pm as everyone goes to bed.
Fantastic scenery and worth a visit but better suited for believers in weird science in search of higher dimensions.

Assuming your replying to my post, I doubt I will ever be allowed to leave the UK at this rate without my vaccination but i shall bear it in mind LOL. Being based in the UK places like Glastonbury & Avebery are just round the corner (ie Stone Henge), so I cant complain. I also live just down the road from a village that specialises in Cystal shops, witches, fairies and the likes.

Im actually going to look into this this weekend as I am sure its gone up loads since lockdown.
Buying direct from the mine in Russia would make sense, but the delivery is going to hurt LOL.

I will happily put a few piles round the house and wait for 5 years LOL ;)

All rocks/gems/minerals have specific energetic properties - I'm currently taking a professional course on Litotherapy to go with my Psychology degree ;) - @Stacktastic fortunately for minerals and rough rocks and their energetic properties, you don't have to go "all out" on an expensive lapidated/cut piece as the energetic properties are the same, AND it's cheaper ;)

lapidated/cut gems are interesting for their archetypal effect on our unconscious, they have the general gist but some vary a bit. My profile picture has an archetypical meaning of wealth so it is fitting for a forum on PM's!

These are dangerous to get into once you start studying them you start to think "oh, I need that one, but I also need all of these 50 others" lol!

Never been to AZ @Pete but that's definitely a holiday destination on my to-do list if I'm allowed out of the country some day haha
