How long does it take for silver bullions to tarnish if you play around with it every now and then(and keep it in a plastic baggie afterwards

I have a metalor august 2020 1kg bar that I ordered a while back, and it was already quite tarnished and slightly beat up, which is kind of sad.  After seeing this im pretty much scared of ever touching my silver at all, esp when I  have a gold coin lying around that never degrades.

Silver will eventually start to blacken with handling due to the chemicals on your skin and in the air.
The worst culprit is sulphur so if you smoke, use a solid fuel or woodburning stove in your property, you will see it tarnish more quickly than if you have none of these.
If you live in a city or near heavy industry where you can sometime smell the fumes from a factory your silver will likely tarnish more quickly.

As your bar is nothing extraordinary, if it was mine, I would first try the bicarbonate of soda / aluminium foil cleaning technique to see if you end up with a satisfactory result ( doubtful but worth a try ). Failing that a cloth and silver / chromium / car metal polish. Failing that a Dremel drill with fabric buff pads and jeweller's rouge to polish. Then only handle wearing gloves and keep in an airtight clip box.
