What would make you stop stacking or collecting?

Physical- I hit my target last year and apart from a few stragglers to complete collections, I'm no longer stacking physical.

Vaulted- I have no reason to stop buying more, it's a replacement for saving (non-emergency) cash.

The notion that the premiums were getting ridiculously high would stop me and has stopped me.  I find myself looking at what I was paying for silver a few years ago and really finding it difficult to pay todays prices, looking at my spreadsheed here is just a few examples, 1oz Britannia 2015 - £11.90, 2oz Nuie Turtles - £23.22, I can't bring myself to pay over double this today.  I made an effort to get silver before the full 20% VAT came in due to Brexit so now it's a switch to gold for me but the same applies here as well, the instant I feel the premiums are getting out of hand I'm out.

Probably if the Philosophers Stone became a thing, and if they had youtube channel or an instgram, then the asset game would be up for us 😅

But real talk though, if I lost my sight... then I couldn't "enjoy" any of my stack/collections.

Stacking silver and platinum for me has finished as I will not pay the 20% VAT.
I will however need to buy the odd coin as I continue with some sets.
I could switch to more gold but I think the price is too high.
If I am wrong that's no big deal but if gold drops 25% I'll be back.
If silver rises to the mid twenties per ounce I will consider unloading some and look at other investments that are less volatile.

For me, the VAT and premium on silver will mean I stop purchasing it (bar a few Oz here and there).  Last silver I purchased in 2016 I paid £13/£14 a coin (including delivery costs).  I look at a tube of Brits now and think no chance, I can grab two sovereigns for that.

I have switched my attention to gold and will be buying a minimum of a sovereign a month going forward as it is just money I waste on stuff I don't need every month.  I think where did I spend that £350 last month and have zero to show for it.  I will add to this with circa 3 or 4 one ounce brits also as and when I can.

What will make me stop - loss of income (hard as both companies I am an equity director in) or death.  I am just stacking this away for my kids as I cannot at this moment in time see my wife and I needing to sell it.

The VAT on silver has pretty much killed my silver dream, I cant justify spending the high premiums on silver anymore, so I have moved to gold. I will be selling off my silver stack as time goes by to concentrate on gold.

Fakery has stopped me buying on Ebay, even today you can't find a real Scottsdale 1oz silver bar that's not a copy,

and the second hand market in bullion dealers is non existent, as they are charging the 20% VAT when they shouldn't  or adding to the premium,  Look no VAT with a 120% mark-up on spot.

The low ratio of g x s under 70 is a good time to consider swapping out, with the tax premium added to sales profit on existing owners the ratio should be even less.
