A trip down memory lane!  Unfortunately, I remember the last year before decimal currency 1970. Lovely coins, and a couple of the bank notes of the time

Total including the 10/- and £1 note = £1 . 17s . 4-1/2d  (One pound, Seventeen shillings, and four pence halfpenny)  Doing sums with old money was a nightmare!   Pence then was 'd' not 'p' 😂

For Bruce06, the farthing was demonetised in 1960. Before that with 12 farthings (3d) you could buy an ice-cream!

Another old proof set. 1937 George GVI coronation, including a Maundy set of 4 coins. After the debasement of silver in 1920 silver dropped from .925 to .500. After decimalisation in 1971 silver returned to .925. Apparently the Queen wanted to give away proper silver Not .500!

On a more modern theme I’d like to show a few 1989 nickel-brass  commemorative £2 coins which attracted me a few years ago, (with apologies  for the 2 silver Piedforts) The pairs shown are the English Bill of Rights and the Scottish Claim of Right. The top 4 are Unc. 5&6 are Piedforts. 7&8 are Proofs. 9&10 are BU. Usually the Claim of Right is more expensive than the Bill of Rights. I believe @Stuntman likes these as well!😄 Underrated and overlooked IMO

I have one of those myself. I’m surprised you referred to that new fangled radio licence. It was always a wireless back in the day. My parents wireless had on the dial stations such as Paris, Berlin, Rome, Warsaw. Also Daventry which I could never get my head round. A bit like Del Boys Paris, Rome and Peckham. It was only after I moved to Northamptonshire that I realised the role Daventry had in the development of radio. A couple of miles away is the place   where the first detection of an in flight aircraft was made, the location marked by a commerative plaque.

He made them himself. Works down the mint - init!

Central bankers are politicians disguised as economists or bankers. They’re either incompetent or liars. So, either way, you’re never going to get a valid answer.” - Peter Schiff

Sound money is not a guarantee of a free society, but a free society is impossible without sound money. We are currently a society enslaved by debt.
