Hi all

Does anyone think a 50oz Johnson Mathey silver bar at £1185 is worth it or would it be difficult to sell down the line. Not that I can afford it. Just wanted to see if it's good value

Doing the maths it's 1185/50 = £23.70 per oz, looking around on the forum that's a decent price in per oz terms considering if buying new would have 20% Vat on top of the dealer premium.

In terms of the size I tend to buy a couple of 25 oz tubes at a time. Some stackers are buying in bigger orders, some might be buying a  coin at a time the ease of sale will be dictated by the price you were to offer it at I think. If you have say 100 oz in total including that bar you'd potentially be selling half your stack if you needed cash. If you've a 1000 oz stack then it would be a relatively small amount of your silver still.

To some people selling 10 or 20 oz at a time isn't going to make much difference to them for others it's a years worth of savings after their bills.
Another consideration perhaps, someone who's living on say £1k a month then being able to sell a smaller denomination would be beneficial in tough times. Someone who's living on 10k+ a month selling smaller denominations wouldn't even pay for a weekend out and about.
Weigh it up yourself hopefully some useful points to consider

I saw that bar, the larger the bar the harder to shift from personal experience, it is priced about right currently from a main dealer with website costs and retail premises at a 30% premium over spot.

Some of our site sponsors / private sellers generally 20% over spot on silver standard items, more obviously for rarer limited editions.
