Purchase problem (advice?)

Hello, any advice appreciated. Made a purchase from HGM for pre owned jewellery in a batch at fixed price. Finalised purchase online and made payment by bank transfer and arranged delivery. However now have phone calls saying they will not deliver due to staff miscalculation and offering me discount on a higher price of what I have already purchased. Hope this describes things simply, any advice would be appreciated. Hope this isn't too incoherent as trying to munch burgers and type at same time. Thanks.

Percy.

This is nothing new from Hatton Garden Metals .

They did this to me 3 times , one time I purchased 4 x 1oz Gold Queen's Beats Lion form their website and paid for it , the day after the called and said it was a website error and told me they can't sell those coins at that price and refunded me .

Another time they emailed me saying the have American Indian head coins in stock and I purchase one immediately , they called me within one hour to say it was a mistake , it's not an Indiana head , it's just a liberty head lol

But I must say I had so many nice pleasant experiences with them as well , I once bought gold jewellery from their website for my girlfriend and she didn't like it , they refunded me without any problem .

So in your case I'd say just ask for a refund and remember next time you buy something from HGM expect things like this to happen , if you see something on their website that is too good to be true and you buy it , they won't honour the sale and their reputation , they will just cancel the order .

Get a grip man. Finish your lunch before you attempt to discredit a trusted dealer.

Don't quite trust people who will admit wrong doing and then try to apply a discount on a sliding scale depending on how irate I get. Sure sign of a wrong'un. Anyway managed to sort the issue with the GM and a little extra for the inconvenience. Will be extra wary of seemingly good deals from now on.

Different companies deal with situations like this differently and that is when you know you are dealing with a mature and reliable company .

I remember sharps Pixley once made a mistake in their online pricing , they priced some of their silver bars very very  low, a forum member noticed it and told the whole forum  about it 🤣 and some members took advantage of it and purchased some bars .

it didn't take sharps Pixley a long time to realise the error , so they adjusted the prices very quickly after an hour or two I think but they did honour all the sales made during the price error period and still shipped all the bars to their customers .

Another time I ordered a bullion sovereign on their website and I chose the best value sovereign which was their lowest price for a sovereign , guess what was the date of the sovereign they sent me ?   2012 🤩

You should always be wary of deals that are better than you usually see in the metals business; they are nearly always mistakes. Margins are tight and few companies will sell at a loss. Their T&C will cover such situations.

If you try and take a punt and gain an advantage, you will rarely get what you wanted at the price you thought you secured. Suck it up and move on.
