Lithium and Uranium and green energy investments

Recommended Posts

I saw this topic on the BBC.

I'm strongly considering buying into futures like lithium mining stocks and I believe soon we will be in turning point for uranium soon.

Any other renewables green energy could be discussed in this investment sector thread.

  • HerefordBullyun changed the title to Lithium and Uranium and green energy investments

I have thought about it but not put anything in yet, I prefer to buy companies unless there is a decent/cheap ETF, two come to mind that I have bought in the past - Cameco for uranium and Bacanora Lithium on LSE. CCJ I consider a uranium major and they pay dividends which ticks all the boxes, a safe enough bet even if the timing is wrong, depending on your timeframe. BCN I have not looked at for several years but at the time was developing an excellent project in mexico, I consider it as development in class (explorer, development, small, med, large), anything could happen though it might have come on a bit since I looked at it.

GCL uranium mining is a strong recommendation from a friend.

Geiger counter limited :D

Took me a couple of goes to find that one, looks good on HL, the chart says no one is interested;

https://www.hl.co.uk/shares/shares-search-results/g/geiger-counter-ltd-npv

But 4.07% ongoing charge my god. That's a pricey wait.

Might be cheaper to just research and buy from the top 10 holdings;

NexGen Energy Ltd 22.53%
High Power Exploration-Phys 15.43%
Uranium Participation Corp 10.46%
Denison Mines Corp 9.47%
Ur-Energy Inc 9.12%
National Atomic Co Kazatomprom JSC ADR 8.46%
Yellow Cake Plc ORD GBP0.01 5.13%
Fission Uranium Corp 5.05%
Uranium Energy Corp 4.01%
Energy Fuels Inc 3.99%

Cameco for uranium

Definitely.

I bought into Dennison but sold that, wrong timing.
Cameco is on my watch list - not budged held very strong & always gets the heads up.

What I like about Uranium is there is less producers, so less BS or confusion on what or what not to invest in.

I get the impression that EV and self driving cars will be all over the place in a matter of a couple of years.
Uber will possibly be the first mass consumer as the profit margins are huge if you take out the human element.

Sounds like somehting from the Jetsons but flying cars have also been predicted before too long. LOL.
That was from Richard Dolan, so take what you want from that.

Scottish Mortgage Investment trust own a s**** load of Tesla shares and also a proportion of Nio (early investors into Amazon too) so thats good exposure.
Not sure I would buy that unless there was a crash. I would treat it like a very long term investment. Some people have made 700% since investing in March!

Anything that burns fuel I think could be vilified over the next decade (kind of like smoking has been),
I can even see cargo ship somehow being turned green at some point, even if its nuclear driven.

The USA has filed a patent for a forcefield on thier military subs recently, that basically reduces drag substantially.
Its also proposed that it forms some sort of forcefield against attack. This is a real patent - apparently china are trying to beat them to it.
My point being is that it will make vessels easier to propel & much faster reducing shipping times, assuming this can also be used on an above water ship somehow?

I am pretty sure that there is technology that can power a house for at least a year off one lorry sized battery or self perpetuating energy generation.
Its a bit out there, but if it suits that powers to be to introduce this stuff, then it will miraculously appear (a bit like fibre optics, the internet & the Taliban LOL)
Lets not ignore anti gravity (assuming this exists), that will destroy any form of combustion engine as a lot less energy is required to make it go anywhere.

GCL up strongly again today.

Another interesting company is MP Materials Corp. (MP) which is an American company specialising in rare earth metals. Many of these are needed for renewable energy. Most currently come from China, but there is likely to be  a push towards local production, if only to protect the supply chain.

Just stick in Uranium - young guy, good presenter, honest too. Its quite good as it goes into its makeup, whats its been used for & how little people have actually died from the meltdowns.
Obviously Hiroshima was and exception, but a lot of it was fear mongering from the us government I think, like that they are doing now.
He went to all the main sites and had a long term detector thing. At the end of the series he had only had as much radiation anyone normally gets in a year.

It discusses how good it is in developing energy while almost being green (as its just water given off). The only problems I can see is the waste as it takes 100,000 years to degrade. Plus the publics perception of the risk, vs any potential meltdowns (which are super rare). There was also a girl on it who is developing a reactor that uses nuclear waste with sodium Fluride, she only looks about 20. The next generation are going to be all like Elon Musk is now I think in 30 years time.

Cameco has shot up. I have been watching and the only opportunity was when the markets dropped, but everyone seems to have switched to energy & cheap value stocks now as the tech bubble collapse looms - that 30% drop in ten minutes must have spooked a lot of people as a lot of the 'loading up on tesla' brigade have moved to oil & and other value stuff now. just have to wait for them to react to the next piece of news I would say. Its good news for gold as thats now unpopular. I am not sure might wait and see what happens with stimulus, vaccines & trump. Could be a very good buying opportunity soon. Biden banning fracking would be good, but Janet Jellen is only a good thing for us atm. assuming they pivot out of energy.

Just noticed that GCL.L has ongoing charges of over 4% per year. Bit pricey. Their biggest holding is Nexgen Energy (NXE) which has risen sharply recently and probably explains most of GCL's rise.

Been watching Nextgen, probably looking at that and Cameco, both of which have shot up. Do you think I could have missed the boat or a buying opportunity is round the corner?

Silver coming hand in hand with the green energy market.

Good read

Im only into this at 15 mins, but its not bad.
very amateur and only 200 views, but I like that stuff as you can get gold advice.

What do you think as I am no expert - I like this guy a lot, he is honest and is non ego knowledgeable.
Not so much about Next gen but other parts of the discussions.

Im considering not getting back into oil if it dips again, but nuclear stuff. Maybe WTI ETF?
I think this one of the best under valued 10 year holds.
