Europeanmint milk-spotted silver coins

Hey guys,

It didn't happened before, but this time on one of my orders of 10 pieces 2020 Royal Arms 1oz Silver Coins most of them were milk-spotted.
Just want to know if you guys happened to get spotted coins from Europeanmint.

PS: Also, should I do something about this? Or there's no chance to get a discount or replacement of the coins?

Email them, explain the problem and give them a chance to solve the issue. I highly recommend the European Mint to people from my own experiences with them, ive had issues and they have been great.

Give them a message, send the pictures and go from there is the best bet but I feel for you, sucks when you get milked coins.

I think replacement is out of the question. It is too much hassle. Although, I would prefer to own BU coins.

How much refund / or discount do you think they offer?

I have raised this issue to the owner of The European Mint. They have asked you to email them: admin@europeanmint.com with your order details and they will work with you as best they can to resolve this.

I'd ask for a refund on the postage at least. But if just stacking for weight, is really that much of a problem? 10% refund?

Sadly RM silver does seem to spot easily. Hopefully they can sort something out for you.

I just checked my "Royal Arm's" coins that i just got and they seem fine.... They were in a complete tube though and I have now out them in capsules

My understanding is that milk spots are a production issue, it is the borax that makes those spots.

Toning however, it is due to the oxidation, when the coins are not stored safely.

Yes its the production and the cleaning solution used I believe and Silver will tone with age dependent on conditions and storage.... I like to see some toning on older coins it makes it more..... real haha

I have a BYB dragon I carry around with me which (even though it has been toned) is also getting that nice look to it

I have removed beware  Let me know if that is better. However, I am disappointed that I bought BU coins with milk spots.

To be fair, I question whether these are in fact BU (Brilliant Uncirculated) at all and perhaps the EuropeanMint are being a bit casual with their coin descriptions?

I'd suggest they are bullion coins and milk spotting is par for the course.

Very disappointed with the European Milk ( European Mint ) solution. They offered me a 20€ discount on the next purchase. That's a disappointment judging how many purchases I have made over time. Even if I am not a company and I make personal purchases, from my point of view, I have spent a lot of money and I expect to receive the quality that they advertise. 😞

Have you told the EU mint you are not satisfied? Perhaps they can work with you to achieve a better solution for all involved. Worth asking I think.

Given the mark ups that these Silver dealers charge, it's an absolute disgrace. Lesson well and truly learnt, I think. EuropeanMint eh? Hmmm.

Hardly EU mints fault, its the Royal Mints coin condition that is at fault here.

The EU mint just send on the coins they get from the mint.

Every coin dealer in the world has this problem, to single out any dealer for the condition of the coins in one of the thousands of orders they ship out without issue just perpetuates the idea that the dealers have a responsibility to dispatch only flawless coins, if you want a flawless version of the coin you need to order from the mint directly or in person so you can inspect the coins.

Moaning reviews have their place, I'm not saying the OP should not have posted about this, but what other people need to realise is there is a significant amount of context always missing from posts and situations like this.

10,000+ orders all fine and dandy - a few situations where less than perfect coins does supplied does not make a dealer a bad or unethical one.

The margins in the precious metals industry are only a very few %

Don’t forget that they also need to cover the cost of premises, insurence, security, shrinkage, taxes, accounting, legal costs as well as staff salaries and other business costs. Staff should also be paid a fair salary for their work.

My personal experience with dealing with European Mint has always been a positive one.

Over time I have received milky coins(including sealed tubes)from most dealers I have purchased from.

It’s not good but I think it’s just what happens from time to time whoever you purchase from.
