Well, I don't think they know it's me to be honest. I have now received my 3rd coin and happy to say it is perfect to my eye!

These shouldn't be looked at as an investment, occasionally you might get very lucky e.g. Peter Rabbit. But on the whole you'll be lucky to get your money back if you go to sell. I've ordered the full

got my proof it seems I have some pooh on the other side to ! not happy

So kind of you @Mike to buy all of the series for @CollectorNo1. Seriously @CollectorNo1they may have caught you out and got you to tick the wrong box on the website. I nearly fell for it when I ordered the first Captain Cook £2 coin and nearly ordered the full series in error.

Just catching up with this thread today I’d like to raise a point on that first Peter Rabbit coin in 2016. The only purchasing options were the BU and the silver proof. There wasn’t a gold proof 50p. So not only was the mintage low for the silver proof but anyone who may have otherwise preferred to buy a gold version had to settle for a silver instead. Had those people been able to buy a gold version there would have been more of the silver proofs still kicking around for others to buy.

There was a subsequent issue of 500 (?) Peter Rabbit gold proofs for somewhere in the Far East but I think they were smaller coins (sovereign size maybe). Some of those did end up back here with British collectors though.

Good luck with your purchases guys.

Christopher Robin landed with me yesterday, quality control issues ablaze on this coin, full review and barrage of constructive criticism going out tomorrow in a full 20 minute video.

Returning for a replacement - one more chance to get a good one otherwise this series will finish here for me.

That is shocking. This isn’t just hairline scratches that could be missed in the right light (still no excuse) but actual ‘ditches’ of space. That mark next to the P on the obverse is ridiculous. I can’t believe that passed through their QC. There is no way anyone actually checked that one.

Yep, its a sizable ding - not to mention a few of the other issues like a rim dent, milk (it looks like milk anyway) and general blemishes.

Good.. I fully understand that the situation they are in with regards to lock down etc. but there is definitely a reduction in their ability to Quality check items. Look forward to the video 🙂

I purchased the winnie the pooh..was ok thankfully but I cxld the rest as a few friends had poor quality ones...I heard about the quality control issues, not just on these but other coins..so decided to cxl.

Its unacceptable they can send these out in this state..there is deffinatly an QUALITY CONTROL issue they need to address...but it does appear they are not that concerned about QUALITY..which is a big shame as this could start to have an impact on people purchasing coins from them, not to mention  their reputation 🤔🤔

I bet they start improving these sorts of issue once they begin slabbing there own coins and want more money for them selfs

shame it happened to backyard

but slightly comforting knowing that even with hes celebrity status these things r happening to everyone

Hi, I'm new here. Ordered the whole 9 coins, silver. Just received Christopher Robin today. Obvious scratch on Queen's head side. What does proof mean?!  Is it worth trying to get it replaced? R.M.'s website flashy, but dysfunctional. Why can't they say what the last 6 coins are going to be, even if they don't have images yet?    Ed.

100% accept nothing less than perfect on any proof coin.

Proof coins are easy to return/replace - you should have the information on the invoice that came with the coin, if not then drop them an email/phone call to sort it out on Monday.

Here is a run down from The Royal Mint for the different types of strikes.

Proof shud be that...."PROOF" THE best condition....there is a problem with the QC at the Royal Mint which is common but unacceptable..

Send it back straight away..the montage of 18 000 means you should receive a new one which is perfect...fyi...sometimes if there are many coins with scratches, dings etc..you might just receive another one that someone has returned as like you....received it with scratches..hopefully you will get a replacement which is "PROOF"

Best of luck

D

Replacement Christopher Robin has arrived, its even worse than the first......

I love the fact that The Royal Mint is helping me with my weekly content creation but all I want is a good condition coin of a series I have great affection for....

I have decided that the Royal Mint has one more chance to get it right, otherwise 3rd strike and they are out.

You have to ask how much the Mint are having to spend on postage for these returns. I see people on this forum talking about returning coins to the Royal Mint all the time. It would surely make more financial sense to throw that level of money at the QC department and balance it out. Employ someone to do a good job in managing that section rather than throwing money at the Royal Mail like this. Better for the reputation of the Mint, better for the customer base...though the post service may see a drop in work, I am sure they can stomach that.

QC at the royal mint has been this poor for years. It's so bad I've now stopped buying from them i really do think that the acceptable rate of proof coins delivered by them is around 10 %.

My early lunars from rm milk spoted and i sold them on.

I've seen loads of spotted queens beasts and these are good seller for rm with a hefty premium.

Think my Robin is going to be bob, bob bobbing it's way back as well (to coin connection - I bought from them as they have a reputation for checking the coins and only letting good ones go... so much for that). Arrived yesterday with mucky marks round the 'Christopher' lettering.

@Bullionaire

Ouch, sad times.

I am yet to receive my 3rd attempt at a good coin.

I have had to chase the RM 3 separate times now - only just been paid the 2x £7.50 in postage refund this week.

They have one last try, if it aint good then I am afraid Whinnie the Pooh is going back as well and I will be expecting a full refund for both!

You would think they would double check what they send you as you do a lot of reviews of Royal Mint coins. My wife seemed interested in these coins however having read this thread I am concluding that Winnie The Pooh just isn't worth the hassle.

Eventually getting some success! Why o why does it take soooo long. I'm much happier to buy from mints and producers from other countries and recieve the quality that the rm should be getting 999.9% of the time without the hassle!
