Krugerrand premiums

Hi all,

Quick question for anyone knowledgable - can anyone provide insight as to why are Krugerrand premiums consistently lower than other gold 1oz coins?

Been monitoring this site for a while- http://goldprice.eu5.net/

Noticed that Krugerrands are the only ones ever listed with a consistent <3% premium whereas around 4% or more is generally the lowest for other 1oz coins.

Thanks

They are usually in oversupply in the secondary market due to hoarding in the early 70s/80s. Back then they werent easily sold due to the fact many countries sanctioned them due to Apartheid. Also - they were I believe, the first 1oz investment coin, and have been in production from 1967, and by 1980 it was supposed to make up 90% of the global gold coin market

The more common a coin, the lower the premium.
