HI Guys

I have several Royal Mint proof sovereigns in presentation boxes, along with

The Authenticity paper documents, my question as a newbie is, should I keep them as they are in the boxes, or

Should I take them out of the boxes and have the coins sent for grading, which option will would be best for value

In the future

Kind regards

Patnol

Hi Patnol,

If you are lucky enough to have a few, why don’t you send a couple off? That way you have hedged your bets so to speak... Lots of collectors like their coins raw, perfect condition, Boxed & coa. If your coin graded as a ‘70’ there is no doubt it’ll achieve more money at the end of the day.

Personally id grade any of your special Sovereigns. You can check on NGC/PCGS website and see how many of that coin has achieved a 70, the lower the better and will help inform a choice.

Best of luck!

Many thanks, Elliot

I have kept my special RM coins in their boxes, but only because I prefer to own them in their original packaging and don't have any other graded coins.

I agree that if you are looking to maximise your resale value, having them graded might prove cost-effective.
