What is a reasonable asking price for these please?

Proof coin in capsule with C.O.A.

I believe they were limited mintage?

Thank you both.

So far, between $120-$180.

Sorry, no idea. Mine are in capsules.

There are two types of Rwanda lunar calendar coins. Non proof coins (mintage: no limit) are plastic sealed. And proof coins (mintage : 1000) come with capsule and certificate.

I was on my tablet earlier so I will blame it on that... but I could have sworn I saw one of them in a plastic sleeve with a COA..... of course I hadnt had any coffee yet.....

Maybe they lost the capsule but then why not put it in another..... (Its ebay so yeah thats about all that needs to be said) :D and I read more.... "One is in a plastic hard shell, the other is in a plastic coin flip holder. the item in the picture is one of the 2 coins, they are very similar in condition."

To me unless it is in a sealed untamperable container can you ever really know?

Jesus. The least they can do is run an iron over those COA's. Crisp and new again in a few seconds.

Ok and trying to further my education I went to this site above and read......

"Each Silver coin in this very popular series is only minted until the next coin is released, making each coin exclusive and ensuring low mintages"

Then

"Final mintage numbers are currently unknown."

Well if it is a proof it comes with the COA that says only 1000 were minted......

Oh no its nothing to do with you my friend. We are all just trying to help. Im just still new to all this and it just pushes me further from those "limited mint" things unless they are serialized and sealed.....

That and it just boggles the mind sometimes.

Proof mintage is set. Bullion version in plastic is what they are saying is continuously minted during it's current year.

Interesting discussion ....I have been collecting these in proof and BU over the years, and while there was a lot of excitement initially (low 1000 mintage on the proofs, cool design etc) there seems less interest now.

I can give you my view @Aknot - which is that of those two I would only be after the one on the left - as its in the correct capsule.  True - the one on the right looks the same ...but it should not have wandered out of its capsule!

Finally - prices. Can only agree with @Silvergunhere - because i have one up for sale  right now (sorry @Aknot as its in UK) and no interest whatsoever!!😢. I was asking £90 but not even any offers / lowballs.

Maybe nobody likes them anymore ?

My biggest beef would be the limited mintage aspect without any proof (get it I made a funny) of its limits. If I were to create something that was limited I would serial number it and place it in a container that could not be tampered with.

This is not about anyone with these items second hand its about the original creators hyping an item without any proof to back it up. (that Ive seen) It reminds me of the comics and cards of the mid late 80s. They called them limited editions etc but let the presses run.

EVEN having serial numbers doesnt guarantee anything. Case in point a card company had created 1 of 1s. Meaning there is one out there it is serialized/stamped embossed 1 of 1. However when that company got (cant remember) was in bankruptcy/got bought out some 1 of 1s got out that were being kept for replacement purposes. (valid reason if I bought a pack and the 1 of 1 was damaged by shipping or packing they could replace it)

The proof, is the plastic round thing sealed or can it be opened?

@Roy is bringing up a relevant point with pricing of the 2018 Rwanda Silver Proof Lunar Dog. What is the foreseeable future and demand of this series? We have seen that the design for the 2020 year Lunar Rat, which is less than fitting for what I would call the Kanga-Rat. That was principally the end for me. It was just a poor design, and the limited mintage wasn’t going to make up for that. Now we have the 2021 Year of the Ox. Not overly enamored with this design either.

...and I am in with the first three 1 oz gold Rwandan Lunar series. @Roy should be fortunate it’s just silver proof he is invested in...

By and by, I have continued with the Silver BU (x5 each) and Silver Proof of this series to date.
