Just got the grade back from NGC for a $10 Liberty Head. Was pleasantly surprised ..

NGC graded it MS63+

For those that are unfamiliar with the Nuances of grading a plus grade is given to coins that are at the upper end of the grade range for that grade.

NGC have graded about 5350 examples of the coin but only 17 have been given a + designation.

Might have to give it to CAC to look at....

Anyway it has a guide price now of $1500 and has MS63+ coins have sold for $1200 plus buyers premium at auctions so a good uplift.

The second column is for + designated coins

Without knowing much about these coins, I would say that does look a very nice example, with very little detectable wear. :)

This one came from an eBay seller in Germany. Shows one can pick up good coins )) occasionally

This one is also quite interesting

The eBay coin was shown as dealer graded Au-55 and NGC gave it the same.

But the liberty head has a lot of scratches and nicks on it.

The Indian head looks better.

If the Liberty had fewer bag scratches or let's say no bag scratches it would sell for 9,000$ as almost all these coins were bagged.

These are bullion coins intended for circulation. They will be lumped together in bags at the mint for storage and distribution. "Bag" marks are accepted and not a sign of wear as such. Unless they are too bad, in which case it will affect their value and grading companies may just give them a "features" grade.
