Lion of England

Lots of them were made.

As already said above - it's the first in the series and later entrants will look to backdate.

Plus it's a Lion and it's England (rather than 'Clarence' or 'Mortimer' etc)  and a good design to boot in my opinion, so it's probably more desirable to more people.  it's the last one of the series that I would part with personally.

@Smiler999 / general advice for everyone considering backdating any of the 1 oz Gold Queens Beasts coins looking at the cheapest prices on @Darr3nG new website (is fantastic btw) http://goldprice.eu5.net/test/put a waned ad on the UK and Europe see if anyone is willing to sell. If the cheapest price obtain 1 oz Gold QB Lion coin from a dealer is £2147.39 I know numerous individuals on the forum who would sell their coin(s) for a lot cheaper. Always try get a cheaper price via wanted ad on the forum before paying dealer prices........

Back in late 2018 I managed to backdate multiple Lions / Griffins and Dragons the majority from forum members without having to pay the premium dealer prices and sometimes using BYB intermediary service (still worked to be cheaper than the dealer). The post below the coins managed to backdate from forum members and buy from the European Mint before putting them all into safety deposit box.

The 2nd coin (griffin) has the highest premium in this series.  It was around early 2019 (or earlier?) the 2nd griffin price became higher than the lion, when people realized that its mintage is smaller than the 1st lion.

I collect the queens beast series in both 1oz and 1/4oz but could NOT bring myself to pay 2 grand. We will see were the market goes. If some people's predictions come true and the price takes off even more that may turn out cheap 😂

Thanks for the advice! Backdating at the moment and put a wanted ad on the forum earlier today. Didn't even think to look at the Royal Mint until I checked out this site. Got the Dragon for £1668 which isn't back at all considering goldsilver.be are selling it at £2003! Have the Lion, Unicorn and Griffin left on the list. You can still get the others for between £1550 and £1650 if you look hard enough

Looking for 1981 and 1983-1984 GOLD Ghanaian coins
