Hi

Has anyone bought Gold Jewellery from HGM before ? I want to buy some for my girlfriend's birthday and I wondered if it makes a good birthday present because their Gold jewellery is second hand but they are cleaned and polished and their prices are really good.

The thing is every year I try to buy her something nice but I always feel like it's waste of money because we are both working towards the same goal which is to have a better life and future but by spending money on Louise Vuitton, Gucci ,Tiffany etc in our 20s we are not working towards that goal really but at least if you buy second had gold it's always Gold .

What are you after, in terms of the jewellery itself?  I'm quite sure that forum members would be able to find something for a better price, in all likelihood.

HGM are reputable but they are a bullion dealer who sell a bit of jewellery on the side - I've had a quick look at their prices and don't think they're very cheap at all.

If you're physically going to HGM just take a look round the Garden itself, plenty of shops and all pretty competitive with each other- you might not get as great a price as online but you cna see things in the flesh if you like to do that. I don't know what it looks like in 'rona times so they might not all be open.

Ignore the eye candy, stop getting your needs mixed up with your wants, create a disciplined strategy for investing and stick with it. You can buy all the Vuitton, Gucci and Tiffany sh!te later when you can afford it.

That's the same advice I gave to my sons.

The thing is her birthday is on Thursday and we are flying to Turkey on Wednesday and I will be extremely busy at work Monday and Tuesday so I have to order something online and have it delivered by Tuesday.

@Nick1368 I’d have a look around hatten garden I’m sure you’d find something. Wouldn’t be suprised if someone on the forum doesn’t have something they picked up at spot that would suit your requirements.

@Xander Thats good advice! Those sorts of items aren’t for everyone but if it’s in the catagory of a treat once in a while, then it’s nice to treat oneself or others on special occasions. Most people try to put the cart before the horse though and are far too busy creating the illusion of wealth rather than wealth itself! Unfortunately there is no shortcut to being richer, just a shortcut to being poorer! 😃

Good luck @Nick1368 hope you manage to find something! You could always play the “ill buy you something on holiday” card. You could probably buy her enough gold chains to make MR T jelous in Turkey. Just make sure she doesn’t wear them in the pool!

So I ended up ordering from HGM and i am very pleased tbh.

the chain is 7.7 grams and the charm is 4.3 grams both 9 carat gold, it came in a nice presentation box and I paid £280 including delivery and it arrived on time before I fly off to Antalya tomorrow.

hopefully she will like it .
